Today we will be dealing with what is spiritual warfare prayer?

The bible says in Matthew 11:12 that:

“And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. Right from the moment sin entered the world, humans has been fighting the devil and thank God through the help of Jesus who came into the world and gave everyone the access to pray for themselves and ask God for help through His death and resurrection. As Christians we have learnt that prayer is an important aspect of our christian journey and when we need to violently pray and win against the devil that’s when we say we are in spiritual warfare.

What does spiritual warfare mean?

As said in Ephesians 6:12″For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”, we not only wrestle against flesh and blood , things that are physical to the eyes, but forces that are beyond our power and control only by the power of Jesus and the help of the Holy spirit we are able to overcome these evil forces. What does spiritual warfare prayer means?

It means that when we bring our battles to God to fight for us and help us overcome the wiles of the devil and his agents. Our struggles as Christians is against spiritual forces of evil who wants to turn man away from God and keep man from doing God’s will no wonder God told us to “watch and pray”.

Spiritual warfare prayer helps us to win the battle against the devil . For Christian the battle has been won already and we are called more than conquerors for those who are in Christ Jesus. For every christians and household the battle has already been won and we have won by the blood of the lamb that was shed for us. Therefore it is important to know that spiritual warfare prayer is effective if we are born again and walk in alignment to God’s purpose and will. Our faith must be strongly built in Christ as only then can we utilize the power God has given to us ,Romans 1:17

For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. Our faith is what will save us at the end of the day.

Importance Of Prayer in Spiritual Warfare

Acknowledge that there is war and you have a God that can fight and win the battle for you. The bible says and I quote ” people perish for lack of knowledge”, it’s important to know that there’s someone you’re fighting with which means that you know the devil is in battle with you,just like how Jesus knew the devil was trying to tempt him and Jesus was able to boldly send the devil away from Him and rebuke the devil. You have to acknowledge that the devil is after you when talking to God in prayer , this way you’re telling God that forces of high places, principalities are after you and you can’t win them all alone except God help you. When you acknowledge this, then the help of God arises for you and you’re able to pray with the help of the holy spirit and the holy spirit guidance (Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered).

Two bible verses are mention below to show us that we are in spiritual battles also and not only physical battles with our neighbors or friends;

1 Peter 5:8

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

The two bible verses were mentioned for us to know that there are spiritual forces who are after our lives as Christians and their goal is to make us fall short of God’s glory and draw us away from God, but we won’t allow them as we have a great, mighty, and powerful name that no one in heaven and on earth can fight and win against. Spiritual warfare prayer is so important and help us win against every plans and activities of the devil. It’s advisable as Christians that when we pray or engage in spiritual warfare we should be encourage and enter the throne of grace with all boldness and courage because our prayers can help prevent bad things from happening and bring about good things in our lives that will be eternal.

Another importance of prayer in spiritual warfare is that when we pray we know that we have Jesus the greatest commander, He has power over the earth and also power in heaven. Jesus loves you, He has chosen you and has saved you , He lives in us as the holy spirit . When we pray Jesus shows Himself to the devil and conquer the devil so that we can know that He has given us more power to overcome evil and He as the greatest commander will not allow evil prevail over our live. We know for sure that Jesus is the greatest commander and also a prayer warrior. Since we are His children we should inherit this lovely trait of a prayer warrior.

It is important to note that when praying you should acknowledge your victory with faith. Be courageous and never forget that God is solidly behind you and Jesus Christ leaves in you as the holy spirit.Ephesians 6:11″Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil”.

It’s not easy to understand and fight with things that are not seen and visible to the eyes, however they exist that’s why God wants us to put on the whole armour of faith ( Read Ephesians 6). We pray that as we read and pray through these verses in today’s topic God will fight our spiritual battles for us and declare us winners in Jesus name. Amen
