Isaiah 65:24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
Prayer to God is like a journey that we embark on a daily basis. Just like we have different bus-stops so we also have bus-stops in place of prayer. Reasonably, we don’t alight at every bus-stop because the bus driver stopped for people to alight, we only step out of the bus until we get to our destination.

The time we stop prayer is when we have gotten to our destination during the prayer session. Often times, people ask How do I pray God?.
How to pray to God?
Just like your usual Communication with that friend of yours, so also is communication with God. The same way you don’t feel disturbed or have a feeling you disturbing your friend during any conversation is the same way God doesn’t feel disturbed whenever we communicate with Him. In fact, God wants to build a consistent relationship with us, a relationship that knows no barrier.
All you need to do is just speak to Him, God wants to be involved in each of our daily activities, even to the food we eat, the clothes that we wear and every other thing that concerns us. However, He doesn’t just speak anyhow there must have been a consistent relationship between you and Him. So you can start telling God things from today, tell how you want your day to look like, tell Him things that you would not tell anyone. If there was anyone you can confide in, it is your maker.
Back to the article on steps to take during prayer. We all know many times, prayer is all about a man asking from God. However, you don’t just go to God and start asking things from Him. Even our earthly parents will rebuke us if we just bump into them and start demanding for things if there are procedures to do things in the world of mortal man, there are procedures to do things in the realm of the spirit.
So what are the steps in Prayer?
1.THANKSGIVING
You must know that to start a prayer, the first thing that you must do is gratitude. Yes! God is our heavenly father, but that should not give us a feeling of entitlements that God will do what He will do for us because we are His children. If that should be the case, how about those who are more spiritual, more fervent in the word of God but have died, or those that don’t enjoy the same Grace like you. Hence, this must bring us to the consciousness that is that we enjoy is GRACE.
So whenever we are going to God in prayer, the first thing we should do is to give thanks to Him for the Benevolent Grace that we enjoy, we are not saved by the works of our hands but by Grace.
2. PRAY WITH WORD
Another great step to take in prayer is to learn to pray with the word of God. The word of God carries all of His promises to us as His children, the heir to His inheritance through Christ Jesus. The book of 1John 5:14-15 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.” Whatever thing that we ask in accordance with His will, God will surely do it for us.
So, instead of staying several hours in place of prayer with little or no result for it, we can start learning how to pray using the word of God. The scripture makes us understand that God honor every word that comes out of His mouth and none will return to Him void unless it has fulfilled the purpose for which it was sent.
3. PRAY WITH FAITH
Have you come across the portion of the scripture that says whatever thing that we ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive. The book of Mathew 21:22 makes us understand the power of faith during prayer.
Faith is the substance of things hoped for and evidence of things not seen. We don’t need to wait for manifestation before we start living in the reality that we have received what we asked for in place of prayer.
4. ELIMINATE FEAR AN WORRY
It is very easy to confess faith, however, it is very tough to live the faith. Once a man decides to work with faith, fear will set in. Fear of failure, fear of doubt. The scripture says For God have not given us the spirit of fear but the spirit of sonship to cry Abba Father.
Fear doesn’t come from God, especially in a place of prayer. Fear brings doubt, recall the story of Apostle Peter when Christ ordered him to walk to him on water. The moment his gaze shifted from Christ, fear set in, and immediately, he began to drown. Fear destroys the faith of a man, it renders a man faithless.
5. SPEAK FAITH, TESTIFY
More to living a life of faith during prayer is testifying that you have received and conquered. There is so much power on the tongue. The Bible in the book of revelation says and they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and by the words of their testimony. There is a need for your mouth to confess and testify that you are a victor. Remember the scripture that says, declare a thing and it shall be established.
When you testify, you claim what is originally yours. It is worthy of note that everything that we need to thrive in life has been given through the blood of Christ that was shed on the cross of Calvary. However, we all have a common enemy which is the devil. The devil tries to deprive us of our rights through fear. However, when we testify, we reclaim what has been taken from us by the enemy.
There you have five steps to prayer that brings speedy result. You should start using the steps for a purposeful prayer and you will share your testimony.
