10 Prayer Points Before A Bible Study

Psalm 119:18:Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.

You might be wondering of what importance is saying a prayer before a bible study.

IS IT IMPORTANT THAT I PRAY BEFORE A STUDY?

Well, it is important to know that the scripture was not written out of the knowledge of a mortal man. It was written by men who were greatly inspired bugger spirit of God, hence, there are things in the Bible that flesh and blood can not reveal it meaning except by the spirit of God.

There are thousands of people who study the Bible based on their mortal knowledge and the result of it is a legion of fanatics, people who misinterpreted the words of God. Misinterpretation of the scripture will happen when the scripture is being interpreted by the use of mortal knowledge.

Be sure to know that the devil actually wants to get us confused with the word of God. Little wonder when the devil was trying to tempt Jesus, the devil took verses from the scripture to test Jesus. He told Christ to jump down from a Cliff because the Bible had commanded that the Angels of the Lord will carry Christ in their hands that he will not dash his door against the stone. Our salvation will have been a mirage if Christ had not had a better understanding of the scripture.

There is no other element that gives a better understanding to a man on the word of God except by the spirit of God. You will wonder that there are so many Christians who are actually doing the wrong things simply because they mistook what the scripture commanded. Like men preaching that alcohol is good only because they saw a portion of the Bible that says Christ turns water into wine, hence, they go about preaching to people that God is not against the drinking of alcohol.

For a man to live a holy life, all the principle is embedded in the scripture, but how will a man unravel the mysteries behind those principles without the knowledge of the word of God. And how will a man understand the word of God without the coming of the spirit of truth which is the spirit of God? Without the spirit of God, the Bible is nothing but another storybook. So it is important that we always pray before Bible study.

If you have been boasting of having the knowledge of the scripture merely by reading the Bible and giving it your own interpretation, I bet you have not started studying the scripture. Next time you want to study the scripture, these are the following prayers to say:

PRAYERS

• Lord God, we exalt you for another grace you have bestowed upon us to learn at your feet once again, Lord let your name be exalted in the name of Jesus.

• Lord Jesus, as we are going into the study of your word, we ask for the presence of your Holy Spirit, we ask that your holy spirit interpret mysteries to us in the name of Jesus.
• Father Lord, you are not an author of confusion, we ask that you not confound us with a problem at the course of studying your words in the name of Jesus.

• Father in Heaven, we refuse to study the scripture like a textbook, we ask that your holy spirit will give us a better understanding of your words in the name of Jesus.

• Lord Jesus, the essence of our gathering here today is to learn, we ask that by your power you will help have a better understanding of your truth in the name of Jesus.

• Lord Jesus, we lay down our hearts and minds before you, we ask that you will fill us with your holy spirit and power in the name of Jesus. Cause us not be confused by your words in the name of Jesus.

• Lord God, we refuse to promote heresy, we ask that you will give us true knowledge and understanding of your word in the name of Jesus.

• Heavenly Father, we come against every power of flesh that might want to give a wrong meaning to your words, we come against it in the name of Jesus.

• Lord Jesus, we decree that by your power, you will grant liberty to the captives through the study of your words in the name of Jesus.

• We pray that by your mercy, you will redeem lost souls through your word in the name of Jesus.

• Lord Jesus, by this virtue of this study, we pray that you will heal the sick, the scripture says, you sent your words and it heals their diseases, Lord let there be healing but your words in the name of Jesus.

• Lord Jesus, we pray that by your mercy, you let us know the truth through your words, the truth that will set us free from the shackles of sin, we ask that you will reveal unto to us in the name of Jesus.

• Lord Jesus, we ask for a deeper revelation of you. Apostle Paul says that I may know him and the power of his resurrection. Lord Jesus, help us to know more about you in the name of Jesus.

• Lord Jesus, your word gives comfort to the brokenhearted, we ask that by the studying of your word that you will heal every pain and injury of the heart in the name of Jesus.

• We rely solely on your wisdom, we rely solely on your understanding, we rely solely on your knowledge, we ask that you teach us yourself in the name of Jesus.

• We pray that you help us not to just study your word alone, but you will give us the grace to follow it that we may direct our part unto wisdom in the name of Jesus.

• Lord at the end, do not let this word stand against us at the throne of judgment, instead, let us be saved by it in the name of Jesus.
