Prayer Points For The Spirit of Obedience

Today we will be dealing with prayer points for the spirit of Obedience. Many people don’t know that the act of obedience is a grace from God. How that Samson was warned earnestly not to marry a woman from a strange land. Despite all warnings, Samson still decided to settle in with Delilah who happen to be a philistine.

The story of Samson ended in a jeopardy simply because he disobeyed the instructions and warnings from God. Similarly in our lives, there are times all we need to do is trust and obey. Let’s take into the account the story of King Saul. He disobeyed simple instruction that was given to him by Samuel. Instead of obeying he made sacrifices to God as atonement for his act of disobedience.

Prophet Samuel told him unequivocally that because you have rejected the voice of the Lord and failed to obey his instruction, the Lord has also rejected him as King. The book of 1 Samuel 15:22-23 Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of divination, and presumption is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has also rejected you from being king.” 

We can deduce from this Bible passage that God detest disobedience. He would rather have us obey than coming to seek for forgiveness. Little wonder God honor the word of Prophet Samuel as he pronounced the end of Saul’s reign as King of Isreal.

For us to fully understand how to pray, we will quickly highlight some of the negative implications of disobedience.

Why Obedience Is Important

The act of disobedience can hinder fulfillment of God’s blessing

One of the ways the enemy deny us from receiving the blessing of God is through the act of disobedience. The purpose of God for the life of Samson was for him to be a delivery of God’s people. However, when Samson disobeyed God by marrying from a strange land, he died with his enemy and the purpose of God for his life left unfulfilled.

Also, the children of Isreal journeyed through the wilderness for forty years simply because they refused to obey God’s instruction. The plan of God was for them to travel for forty days. Their disobedience extended the manifestation of God’s promise for their life.

It unlocks the blessing of God

As stated earlier, sometimes all we need to do is just trust and obey God and everything will fall into place. Prophet Samuel would have ended his life like one of the sons of Eli, but his act of obedience made the spirit of God come to him. Samuel was a child of fulfillment. Hannah had promised God that she will make Samuel serve God in the temple.

Samuel could have chosen to disobey God instruction and live his life to the fullest like Eli’s sons. However, he chose to serve God wholeheartedly and God made him a great prophet to the people of Isreal.

We obey God because it is our duty

We are the generation of the redeemed. Those who have been called out of darkness into the marvellous light of Christ Jesus. It is our duty to obey, trust and serve the one who has saved us by the precious blood of his son to make us kings and priests.

The scripture says it is for Freedom that Christ has set us free, so let us therefore, stand firm that we may not become slave to sin again. It is our duty to obey God so we don’t fall victim to the devil again.

Prayer Points

• Lord Jesus, I thank you for your grace. I magnify you for the gift of the holy spirit that you have given to us. I magnify you the grace you have given to us to know you and serve you. Lord let your name be exalted in the name of Jesus.
• Father Lord, the scripture has made me understand that obedience is better than sacrifice and to listen is better than the fat of ram. Father, I pray that you grant me the spirit to always obey your instructions in the name of Jesus.
• Lord Jesus, I pray for the spirit to be submissive to your will. I pray for the grace to be submissive your instructions. Father Lord, I pray that you grant me this grace in the name of Jesus. 
• Lord, I come against every temptation of the enemy that may charge me to do things according to the will of the flesh. I come against every power of flesh that is dominating my life. I destroy it by the fire of the holy ghost in the name of Jesus. 
• Lord, I pray for the grace not to see your warnings and instructions as something too difficult. Give me the courage to follow your instructions strictly even if it sound stupid in the face of man. 
• The scripture says a way seem right to man but the end is destruction. Lord, I do not want to lose my soul to the devil. I refuse to lose my salvation to the deceit of the enemy. I pray that you will grant me the grace to stand firm in your way. I pray for the grace to keep standing until your second coming in the name of Jesus.
• Lord, I pray that by your mercy you will start to unlock every blessing that has been hindered by my act of disobedience to your word. I pray that by your grace you will release all the blessings in the name of Jesus. 
• I come against every evil manipulations of the enemy to make me miss your blessing for my life. I pray for the spirit of humility to your will and purpose in the name of Jesus.
• I come against every power of bareness in my life. Every form of barreness is destroyed in the name of Jesus.
