Mark 11:25
And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.
You must always remember that God will most like treat us the same way we treat other people. When you go on your knees to pray for forgiveness, search your heart deep to know if there are people you have not forgiven yet. Try to forgive everyone that has crossed you in one way or another. The scripture admonish that when we pray for forgiveness, we must endeavor to forgive people that has offended us so that our father in heaven can forgive us too.
Mathew 6:15
But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
This is to further emphasize the previous verse of the scripture. If you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your father forgive your trespasses. The lord’s prayer states that forgive us this day as we forgive those that trespass against us. When we are kind enough to forgive those who trespass against us, our father in heaven is kind enough to forgive us our sins.
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
When praying for forgiveness, it is important to confess our sin. The scripture makes us understand that the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart will God not despise. He that hides his sin will not prosper but he that confess and forsake them shall find mercy.
When we confess our sins and iniquities, God will forgive us our sins.
Hebrews 8:12
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”
This is a promise from God. He has promised to be merciful to our unrighteousness. The love of God for humanity is not for those that has been saved but for those that are yet to receive the gift of salvation. God has promised to be merciful to us and He will not judge us by our sins and lawless deeds.
Ephesians 1:7
“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.”
The blood of Jesus has been shed for us already. The blood speak righteousness than the blood of Abel. The blood speak for us in our moment of need. The blood speak righteousness. And in the blood we have redemption. The blood of Christ intercede for us when we cry to God for mercy.
The blood of Christ still flows in Calvary and it still works wonder till date. All we need to do is key into the covenant of the blood.
Daniel 9:9
“The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him.”
Although we have rebelled against God on several occasions, but God is merciful to us and He still show compassion. Praise be the lord that doesn’t treat us as a result of our shortcomings. The love of God is abundant to us. We are no longer under the law, grace has saved us.
The scripture says we have not a high priest that can’t be touched with the feeling of our infirmity. We therefore come boldly to the throne of mercy that we may obtain grace from God the father.
Isaiah 1: 18
“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.'”
How big is your sin that can not be forgiven? Regardless of how big our sins are God is great enough to forgive us our sins and iniquity. The scripture says even if our sin as red as scarlet they shall be made whiter than snow, even if they are red as crimson they shall be made whiter than wool.
Jeremiah 31: 34
“For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”
God has promised to forgive our wickedness. You have heard that God doesn’t want the death of a sinner but repentance through Christ Jesus. He doesn’t want us to die, he wants our repentance and we can obtain our repentance through Christ Jesus.
Matthew 6: 14-15
“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”
Forgiveness is a give and take something. When you hoard kindness, you might not obtain mercy too. But when you forgive other people of their shortcomings, the lord is merciful to forgive you. When you don’t forget other people their sins, God in heaven will not forgive your sins.
Ephesians 4: 31-32
“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
When you want mercy and forgiveness from God, you must ensure you are not bittered, filled with rage or anger against another person. Be kind to other people, show mercy to others and forgive those that trespass against you. Then your father in heaven will forgive you.
