“But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” – James 4:6 (KJV)

More often than not, the people who provoke God do so through pride. The most junior staff in an organisation would typically be humble and submissive. However, the day the person begins to feel overly important, he or she will start provoking some people. The moment you become proud, you begin to provoke God. Never forget that no matter how high you go, God is still the Most High.

God usually deals with proud people in two ways. The first way is by recalling such a person suddenly and in a disgraceful manner. In Acts 12:20-24, king Herod’s pride made him consent to being compared to the Most High. This made God order worms to eat him up alive. The Lord said, “Oh, you think you are big because you are the Commander-in-Chief of some armies? I have armies that don’t carry guns – ordinary worms”. One moment Herod was sitting on the throne, the next moment, he was being eaten by worms. However, the Lord could also decide to disgrace the fellow openly while preserving his or her life. That is what He did to Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 4:28-37.

Nebuchadnezzar was the greatest king of his time. He built a city called Babylon, which had one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. At a point, God saw that he was becoming proud and sent him a warning through a dream. Unfortunately, one year after the message came, he had forgotten it, so God said, “Okay, you think you are big? Go and eat with animals for seven years”. Nobody removed his royal robes from him; he removed them with his own hands. If there is something that must leave your life permanently today, it is pride.

Be careful as you rise, so as not to begin to feel like you are overly important. The elders say that when the cockroach falls, nobody hears the sound; when an ant falls, the ground doesn’t tremble, but if an elephant falls, the tremors would be felt both near and far. If God is elevating you, be weary of pride so that it doesn’t become a case of Him raising up an elephant so that when it falls everyone would pay attention, like in the case of Pharaoh (Romans 9:17). Pride is the downfall of a man . Irrespective of how rich or poor you are , if you’re too proud , your doom is near you.

God has sent people to help you , even a rich man still needs help talk more of a poor man. There are people around us that God has placed them around us to help us . I pray we won’t be proud to someone that’s meant to help us thereby loosing the blessing and opportunities we are to get from that person. Imagine if the Samaritan woman had called Jesus a liar or disrespected Him because she doesn’t know who He is, she would have lost the blessings she got from Jesus that day right. No proud person shall God . God’s face is very far from the proud and it was also mentioned in the Bible that God resist the proud a lot. So, brethren put down your shoulders and be nice to your neighbors. There is someone somewhere who has achieved more than what you have right now.

Do not be proud with the gift God has placed in your hands . All glory and honor should be returned back to Jesus. Dear ministers of God, do not disrespect God because people have been praising your gift, after all Almighty Jesus blessed you with this gift and you should use it to honor Jesus instead. Remember the parable of those with talents in the Bible.

Some invested the talents their master gave them and achieved more while a particular person buried his own because he doesn’t want the master to benefit from him. He was casted out of his masters presence. I pray this kind of faith won’t befall us in Jesus name . So remove your game t of pride today and burn it .

If there is something that must leave your life permanently today, it is pride.

I pray the Lord shall grant you the strength to overcome the spirit of pride in the name of Jesus Christ. I ask that the spirit of God shall come into you and humble your inner man in the name of Jesus Christ. When you open your mouth to speak, the spirit of God shall guide you. When you want to react, the spirit of the shall give you the right time of attitude to exhibit in the name of Jesus Christ.

2. Help me to understand that being proud only gets you far away from me and it will not benefit me in any way
3. Help me to see more of you in everything I do so that I will return all the glory , honor and adoration back to you Lord Jesus
4. Help me to understand that I have no power or my own. If the Lord does not build a house the builder build in vain. Help me to understand that I can’t do anything by myself , I can’t even add a strand of hair to my hair , I can’t add another inch to my height , it’s all the Lords doing
5. Help me to show gratitude always Lord Jesus . Help me not to think that I’m ready and I can do without you
6. Without you Jesus I am nothing , if you’re not in my life I will be useless and I don’t want to be useless Lord Jesus so help me and cleanse my heart from all bad thoughts and pride
