Today we will be dealing with How To Pray When Under Spiritual Attack. In life, we often face challenges and trials, some of which can be spiritual in nature. These spiritual attacks can take various forms, including doubt, fear, temptation, and oppression. During such trying times, turning to prayer and seeking solace in God’s Word can provide comfort, guidance, and protection. In this blog, we will explore how to pray when under spiritual attack, accompanied by relevant Bible verses to help fortify your faith.
How To Pray When Under Spiritual Attack
Recognize the Attack
The first step in dealing with a spiritual attack is to recognize it. Understand that these attacks can come from external sources or internal struggles. In Ephesians 6:12, the Bible reminds us, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Knowing the source of the attack is crucial in addressing it through prayer.

Put on the Armor of God:
Ephesians 6:13-17 provides a powerful metaphor for spiritual warfare: the armor of God. To withstand attacks, put on the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the gospel of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Pray daily for God to equip you with this armor, enabling you to stand firm against the enemy.
Seek Refuge in Prayer:
In Psalm 91:2, we are reminded that God is our refuge and fortress. When under spiritual attack, take refuge in prayer. Pour out your heart to God, expressing your fears, doubts, and concerns. Remember that He is always ready to listen and provide comfort. Praying the Psalms can be particularly helpful during times of spiritual struggle, as they often reflect the emotions and challenges faced by the psalmists.
Invoke God’s Protection:
Psalm 121:7-8 assures us of God’s protective care: “The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” As you pray, ask God to protect you from the spiritual attacks that threaten your peace and faith.
Declare God’s Promises:
God’s Word is full of promises that offer strength and hope during spiritual attacks. Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Declare these promises in your prayers, holding onto them as you navigate through the attack.
Pray for Spiritual Discernment:
In 1 Peter 5:8-9, we are warned to be vigilant: “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith.” Pray for discernment to recognize the enemy’s tactics and resist his influence. Seek wisdom and guidance from the Holy Spirit in discerning the truth.
