Today we will be dealing with 10 Biblical principles every Christian business owner must follow. In the world today, the champion of the economy are primarily businessmen and women. It is pretty hard to see a salary earner become one of the wealthiest persons anywhere. Business has always been the order of making money and staying relevant in every economy. However, as good as starting up a business is, knowing the basic principles for business survival is an important aspect every business owner must understand. One of the factors that have led to business failure for most entrepreneurs is lack of business principles
Although there are countless books and seminars that you can attend as a business person, however, there is no principle that is as effective as the one in the scripture, especially for believers. It will amaze you to know that many successful businessmen and women are not Christians. You will wonder why that is so. You can check on google to see the list of world changers. Meanwhile, you will be more than surprised to know that most of these successful business persons, despite not being a believer, unconsciously follow the biblical principles that necessitate the growth of every business.

The problem most believers have is that we abuse grace so much. The fact that the grace of God is sufficiently abundant that has not canceled the simple law of nature. For instance, God doesn’t want the sinner’s death due to this Christ came to the world and died for us all. However, that doesn’t take away the punishment that is due for sinners. The only thing is that we have been saved by grace. Similarly, in business, there are principles that God has aligned for us to be prosperous in our businesses. The problem is that most believers don’t follow it strictly.
If you are a believer and business owner, you must not do like others. You must be deliberate about your decision to follow these principles for your business. Remember always that you are first a Christian before you become a business owner. We have compiled a list of biblical principles to help you grow your business.
Write Down Your Plan
Habakkuk 2:2-3 Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end, it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.
Whatever business you do, you need to have a structured plan for it. The scripture says to write the vision and make it plain on tablets that he may run who reads it. Every business has its short and long-term goals. These goals are always written as in the business plan.
The business plan help business to define their mode of operation. It is the foundation upon which business is built upon. So, as a believer who is into one business or another, you must have a structured plan for the business.
Treat Your Customers and Workers Right
So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 7:12)
It is worthy of knowing that every basic human principle has its root from the scripture. Treat people the way you want to be treated, and this is where most business owners miss it.
You are the head of the business doesn’t make you a god over your subordinates. You must learn to treat everyone with respect, and it must start with the people that work with you—the success of your business hinges on the happiness of your workers. Appreciate your workers. It motivates them to work like they own the business.
Treat them with respect, and you will never lose your respect in the process.
Use Your Time Wisely
Ephesians 5:15 Making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.”
As a business owner, you must spend more time designing strategies for your business. You should spend more time on your business. In the business world, competition is inevitable. You get to compete with other businesses and brands. More of your time should be spent on how to improve your business.
The business should be in your thoughts all the time, and all you should always work towards is how to be better than your competitors.
Be Diligent in Your Work
Proverbs 22:29 Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men.
This is one of the most essential principles for succeeding in any business. You must be diligent in your work. Although hard work doesn’t automatically translate into success, however, God has a way of rewarding people. The scripture says a man diligent in his works will stand before kings and not mere men.
You will be surprised to know how diligent many successful business owners are even though they are not believers. This principle is given rules that work regardless of who uses them. Nevertheless, we that are believers have an added advantage. When you are diligent in your work, the Lord will bless the work of your hands and make you prosperous.
Pay Your Tithe
Malachi 3:10:11 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the LORD of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the LORD of hosts;
Paying tithe is a covenant principle that works like magic. When you pay a tithe from the income, you make on your business. It brings the attention of God upon that business. Recall the scripture says, try me now in this and see if I will not open the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will be no room to store them.
God further revealed that He would rebuke the devourer for your sake so that he will not destroy the fruit of your business. All these will happen when you pay your tithe. There are only a few places in the scripture where the Lord demands that we test Him. This portion of the scripture about paying of tithe is one of the few places in the Bible. Why not test the Lord today.
