PRAYER FOR THE NATION OF SOUTH SUDAN

Today we shall be engaging in prayer for South Sudan. South Sudan is one of the youngest countries in the world having gained independence from Sudan in 2011. The freedom process of South Sudan was a very gory one. It is a no fact that breaking out of an entity to form another entity does not always come with a smile. Many citizens of Sudan and South Sudan lost their lives in the fight for freedom.

After gaining independence from Sudan in 2011 through a successful referendum, South Sudan have to start their country from the scratch as they could no longer enjoy some benefits from the existing nation of Sudan.

South Sudan is one of the biggest exporters of timber in the world, also, the nation is one of the biggest producers of oil in sub-sahara Africa. However, the economy of the nation is still greatly considered as undeveloped one. Furthermore, though the country has gained independence from Sudan which makes them a soverign state, yet they are still a prison of their own cell.
Many people from the South Sudan believed all of their problems would be solved immediately they have their own country. However, war hasn’t ended yet in South Sudan, the country is still at war with itself.

Christianity is one of the major religion in South Sudan, but, it is appalling that the prince of peace (Jesus) has not been invited to the situation of South Sudan. A prayer for peace amongst tribe and ethnic division should be one the most said prayer for the nation of South Sudan.

WHY YOU SHOULD PRAY FOR SOUTH SUDAN

The nation of South Sudan deserve peace. History has made it known that the country has been fighting war even when they were still under the government of Sudan. It is about time that the nation finds lasting solution that will bring avout the desirable peace to the nation.
Also, the Bible made us understand that we are Christ ambassadors called to serve human needs, through our potentials until the body od Christ is built up. In addition the scripture Psalms 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

This Bible text made us understand another way of being prosperous is to love our Jerusalem. The peace of South Sudan is our collective duties as Christians, let’s us put aside nationality differences and offer a prayer for the nation of South Sudan.

PRAY FOR THE GOVERNMENT OF SOUTH SUDAN

Upon her independence in 2011, South Sudan operates a presidential system of government. A democratic form of government that is considered as one of the best in western climes. However, the country is still not standing well enough.

Some of the citizens of South Sudan have resulted to cursing the government for bringing them out the land of Sudan where they still have at least 3 square meals daily. Remember how the people of Israel cursed Moses when they got to the red Sea and there was no means of escape anymore. Exodus 14:10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD.

Exodus 14:11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?
Exodus 14:12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.

The government of South Sudan can be said to be Moses in this context. Our prayers for the nation of South Sudan’s government will help them and give them the right idea of leading this country in the right way.

PRAY FOR THE ECONOMY OF SOUTH SUDAN

The economy of South Sudan is based on agriculture. The country export timber to the western World. The Gross Domestic Product of the nation stood at Per capita $246. Though the country have abundant of crude oil, however, since the breakout from Sudan, the countries have not been able to reach a consensus on how to share the revenue of oilfields.
southern and northern negotiators were not immediately able to reach an agreement on how to split the revenue from these southern oilfields.
The economy of South Sudan needs the prayer of the righteous to rise above all hindrances. This will help alleviate the sufferings of South Sudanese.

PRAY FOR THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH SUDAN

Even after independence, the people of South Sudan have not ceased fire yet. There are been cases of ethnic violence and endured a civil war. It is glaring that the people are the biggest problem of themselves.

When saying a prayer for the nation of South Sudan, remember her people. The book of Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it? This explains the state of heart, that is always prone to wickedness. The love that Christ preached is not visible in South Sudan, else, there wouldn’t be any form of ethnic violence that claimed the lives of thousands of people.
Remember the people of South Sudan when you are saying a prayer for the nation of South Sudan.

PRAY FOR THE CHURCH

Despite the fact that country’s major religion is Christianity, many things are still not right about the country. The church as a body of Christ also needs our prayer. When there is so much unrest in the land, the church will feel the tensed heat, there is a great need for the church to preach the gospel sermon of peace.
Pray that the churches in South Sudan will rise from their slumber and take charge of the situation of the country.

Without much ado, if just one man can negotiate for an entire nation of Sodom through the sacrifice of prayers, we can do more. A prayer for the nation of South Sudan will put smile on the faces of many South Sudanese who have forgotten how to laugh for long.

14). Father, in the name of Jesus, let the wickedness of the wicked against this nation come to an end even as we pray now – Psalm. 7:9

15). Father, in the name of Jesus, vent your anger upon all the perpetrators of wanton killings in this nation, as you rain up on all them fire, brimstone and a horrible tempest, thereby granting permanent rest to the citizens of this nation – Psalm. 7:11, Psalm11:5-6

16). Father, in the name of Jesus, we decree the rescue of South Sudan from the powers of darkness contending against her destiny – Ephesians. 6:12

17). Father, in the name of Jesus, release your instruments of death and destruction against every agent of the devil set to destroy the glorious destiny of this nation – Psalm 7:13

18). Father, by the blood of Jesus, release your vengeance in the camp of the wicked and restore our lost glory as a nation. -Isaiah 63:4

45). Father, in the name of Jesus, turn your hand against the adversaries of this nation, that are blocking the way forward to our economic growth and development as a nation – Psalm. 7:11,Proverbs 29:2

46). Father, in the name of Jesus, supernaturally restore the economy of this nation and let this land be filled with laughter again – Joel 2:25-26

47). Father, in the name of Jesus, bring an end to the economic woes of this nation thereby restoring her past glory – Proverbs 3:16

48). Father, in the name of Jesus, break the siege over this nation, thereby terminating our age-long political turmoils – Isaiah. 43:19

49). Father, in the name of Jesus, set this nation free from the scourge of unemployment by stirring waves of industrial revolution in the land -Psalm.144:12-15
