Today we shall be engaging prayer for the nation of Namibia. Nambia is considered as the driest country in sub-saharan Africa. Carefully located in the southern region of Africa, Namibia gained her independence from South Africa in 1990 after the Namibian independence war that broke out.
The entire population of Namibia is posed at 2.6 million people. Since independence, the country has experienced a stable and constant multi-party parliamentary democracy. The economy is built on Agriculture, herding, tourism, mining of gem diamonds, uranium, gold, silver and many other mineral resources.
Namibia operates a similar system of government as Mauritius and Seychelles. With a system of government based on Unitarian presidential republic, the elected president serve as both the head of government and head of state.
Good to note, the fate of Namibia’s economy is tied to the success of South Africa because of their shared history. And it is worthy of note that South Africa’s economy is one of the fastest growing in Africa. However, despite Namibia’s high income and being ranked as a middle class income, still, about 26% of Namibians are living below poverty line, HIV victim’s ranked around 16.9% due to poverty and bad health issues.

The scripture says the effectual prayer of the righteous availeth much, this means that God can turn around the situation of the country when we all raise an altar of prayer for the nation of Namibia. There is no gainsaying that Namibia is suffering from a desert spirit that has rendered all their efforts fruitless and unproductive. Similar occurrence happened to Sarah, Abraham’s wife when she was rendered fruitless, but God turned the situation around and she became a mother. God is all sufficiency, there is nothing impossible for Him to do, the situation of Namibia is not too worst for God to turn around.
WHY PRAY FOR THE NATION OF NAMIBIA
You all might wonder why it is so important to say a prayer for the nation of Namibia. It would interest you to know that the economy of Namibia is strongly tied with that of South Africa, in other words, when South Africa excel, Namibia also triumph. Meanwhile, the economy of South Africa is one of the largest in Africa, hence, Namibia ought to be a great beneficiary of South Africa’s wealth.
However, that cannot be said because of the gross inequality of the nation’s wealth, quite a number of Namibians are living in abject poverty due to lack of sustainable employment. HIV is prevalent among other deadly diseases and syndromes in Namibia. There is a need for us to stand in gap for that country, for God to save them from their greatest enemy. 2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. We might just be the prophets and priests that God would listen to about Namibia.
PRAY FOR THE GOVERNMENT OF NAMIBIA
Namibia operates a Unitarian republic whereby the head of state serve in the same capacity as head of government. That system of government is also an absolutism whereby power lies in the hands of an individual. In such situation, if the leader of the nation is a dubious and over ambitious one, the fate of the country people will be shattered. The book of 1 Timothy 2:1-2 1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. Namibia’s government needs prayers, a perfect idea that would save the nation from it present doom is seriously needed, and the scripture made us understand the that good ideas come from God.
PRAY FOR THE PEOPLE OF NAMIBIA
The scripture says the earth is the Lord and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell there in. Psalms 24:1. This means that God gave every man the key to wealth of the world when He said we should subdue the earth. Namibians must be able to make a conscious and sustainable effort of transferring the wealth of country.
Also, with the rate of HIV affected people in Namibia, it is important to call on God the great healer. According to statistics, more than 17% of Namibians suffers from this deadly syndrome. Also, most of the people of Namibia are Christians, the salvation of Christ always come with a wing of healings. Malachi 4:2: “But unto you that fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth; and grow up as calves of the stall.” Christ is still very much in the business of healing.
While saying a prayer for the nation of Namibia, kindly remember her people.
PRAY FOR THE ECONOMY
There is no doubt that the nation of Namibia has gotten their independence from South Africa, however, the economy of Namibia is still under the colonial rule. Namibia’s economy depends on South Africa to survive. There is a need to free the economy of Namibia from the strong man pulling it down. Col. 2:15: And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Kindly remember to pray for the total independence of Namibia’s economy.
PRAY FOR THE CHURCH
Namibia is predominantly occupied by Christians. There are quite a number of churches in Namibia, however, the relationship among those churches is still very weak. It is pertinent that the churches in Namibia gets into the reality that doctrine maybe different but the baptism remains the same for true worshippers. 1 Corinthians 12:12 For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ.
Conclusively, when saying a prayer for the nation of Namibia, it is important we do it wholeheartedly, do not let us do like we were compelled to do it.
