Today we will be explaining Psalm 41 The message verse by verse. There are several psalms in scriptures that contain different themes interwoven into each other. Psalm 41 the message verse by verse is one of such psalms. It speaks of the blessings of good conduct, the ills of betrayal, a plea for mercy and praises to God. The psalmist in Psalm 41 reveals how a man can be compassionate to the needy and yet be treated wrongly in return. This is the case of so many believers scattered everywhere. We do so much to conduct ourselves rightly showing sympathy to the poor, yet at the end of the day we get betrayed in return.
PSALM 41 MEANING VERSE BY VERSE.
Verse 1: Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the lord will deliver him in time of trouble.

This is one of the benefits of good conduct as given by God. The ability to empathize with the needy and give in response to their needs makes a man happy and to be envied. More so, such a one can be assured that God will deliver him in times of trouble.
Verse 2: The Lord will preserve him, and keep them alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.
God will also ensure that such a man stays alive and is richly blessed. This must be because as long as such man is alive, he will keep being compassionate to the poor and helping to meet their needs. Even if his enemies come for him, God will ensure that he is not given into their hands. The psalmist uses this to encourage us into embracing this as a lifestyle.
Verse 3: The lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou will make all his bed in his sickness.
Still on the benefits of giving to the needy, God will also grant him healing for all his sicknesses. He will remember his sacrifices and keep him strong, restoring his health in times of sickness.
Verse 4: I said lord be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.
Here the psalmist begin to plead for mercy over the guilts upon him. He understood that although he showed compassion to the needy, that wouldn’t still grant him the opportunity to go unpunished for his sins. More so, he even needed to seek God’s mercy for the misdeed of those whom he sacrificed for.
Verse 5: Mine enemies speak evil of me, when shall he die and his name perish.
Though he was compassionate to people and ministered to their needs, yet they sought his downfall to the point of wanting him dead. Such it is with the life we live in. Some people just want us out of the way for no just cause, even those whom we have been good and gracious to.
Verse 6: And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathered iniquity to itself: when he goeth abroad he telleth it.
They even come to sit with him to converse with him, whereas all the while, their heart is conceiving mischief and wicked thoughts against him. When he leaves him, he goes around the neighborhood sharing with them the fruit of his thoughts; sadly enough it is against the one who has been compassionate to him.
Verse 7: All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt.
His enemies even go as far as forming a discussion group behind him, imagining and planning evil and mishap against his life. Unfortunately, we do not know the heart of men and so can’t tell when a thing of such is being done against us; this is why we need God’s mercy continually.
Verse 8: An evil disease, say they, cleave to fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.
They even wish him ailment. And when he falls sick they desire that he will never rise again.
Verse 9: Yeah, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.
Even his closest pals, those whom he trusted so much to even share the same plate with. Those with whom he had empathized and ministers to their needs also seeks his destruction. They come to him appearing all nice and friendly but in their minds is a deadly and poisonous desire. A case which can be applicable generally to us. We so not know the intents of the heart of men towards us, even those who seem to be closest to us.
Verse 10: But thou, O Lord, be merciful unto me and raise me up, that I may requite them.
The psalmist therefore seeks the mercy of God to help him stand strong again so that he can have the opportunity to repay them for their misdeeds. Of course he understood that God is a just God who ensures that the wicked never goes unpunished and so seeking for a recompense was not out of place.
Verse 11: By this I know that the art pleased with me, in that they enemy has not triumphed over me.
Seeking God’s justice yet still, he wants God to use this as a means to prove to him that he was pleased with him. He wanted God to see to it that his enemies do not gain victory over him, that their desires for him do not come to pass, knowing how good he had been to them. This shows that we can seek God’s vengeance over our enemies especially when we are sure that we have been good to them.
Verse 12: And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before they face forever.
He knew he had been just on his part, he had dealt with men both friends ad foes in a integrity. He had been of good conduct and had shown compassion to those in need. And because of this, God compensated him by leaving his presence with him at all times. We should also take this as a message to us not to be weary and doing good, for God will definitely repay us.
Verse 13: Blessed be the Lord, the God of Isreal, for evelasting, and to everlasting. Amen and Amen.
The psalmist finally offered thanks to God who he knew had seen all his good deeds and was going to avenge him of all those who hated him unjustly.
