Today we will be dealing with 5 reasons your prayers are not answered. One of the most discouraging things about our Christian Life is unanswered prayers. Oftentimes we pray to God and we expect that God should answer almost instantaneously, but the reverse is the case. We try to keep hope alive and continue praying but the continuous unanswered prayers weigh us down and we can keep up with prayer.
One thing we must know is that God is ever ready to answer prayers. When we pray to Him in the name of Jesus, He is ever ready to answer our prayers. However, there some things that sometimes make our prayers unanswered. When a topic like this pop-up, the first thing that comes to the mind of people is sin. Of a truth, sin can hinder our prayers from being answered, after all the scripture says in the book of Isaiah 59:1 Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. This explains that sin is one major factor that causes an unanswered prayer.

However, besides sin, other things could hinder our prayer from an answer. Remember the story of Daniel when he was praying to God for something. God had answered the prayer and sent an angel to deliver his answered prayers. The bible recorded that the Prince of Persia held the angel captive and he was unable to bring Daniel the good news. Nevertheless, Daniel didn’t stop praying until God had to send another angel to assist the one that was held captive. There are times that our delay may be caused not because God has not answered us but because there is a hindrance between us and the answered prayers.
In this article, we will highlight 5 reasons our prayer is not answered. We hope this will help us pray better next time. I ask that by the mercy of God, every delayed response is released in Jesus name.
When You Ask Wrongly
Yes, there are some prayers we feel are the best fit for us considering the situation we found ourselves in. However, not all prayers we pray are the Will or mind of God for us. The book of James 4:3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. We must understand that God has a structured plan for our lives and we must begin to act per that structure.
When Absalom betrayed his father David and enthrone himself as King. The prayer King David prayed was for God to destroy his enemies and restore his place as the King of Isreal. However, all efforts to get the throne back always end in disappointment. Until David knew the cause of Absalom’s strength, only then did he realized he has been praying the wrong prayer. 2 Samuel 15:31 Then someone told David, saying, “Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” And David said, “O LORD, I pray, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness!” When David understood the cause of his problem, he knew how to pray the right way. The bible recorded that God answered the prayer of David.
Sometimes, our unanswered prayers could be because we have not asked rightly. It is important to let the spirit of God lead us in a moment of prayer. Most time, we are overwhelmed by our problem that we don’t give chance to the spirit of God.
Disobedience To The Instructions of God
Proverbs 28:9 If anyone turns a deaf ear to my instruction, even their prayers are detestable.
Failure to listen to the instructions of God can cause our prayers to be unanswered. King Saul disobeyed God when he was ordered to fight the Amalekites. The instructions were to destroy the entire city leaving nothing out.
However, Saul spared some livestock. This resulted in God rejecting Saul as king of Isreal. When we disobey the instructions of God, it can lead to unanswered prayers. Until we come back to the point where the instructions were disobeyed and make amends, we might just be praying and feel God is no longer in heaven to hear our prayers.
Turning Blind Eyes and Deaf Ears to Cry of The Needy
The scripture has made us know that he that turn deaf ear to the cry of the needy, so will God also turn deaf ears to him. Proverbs 21:13 Whoever shuts their ears to the cry of the poor will also cry out and not be answered. The essence of our creation is to help other people. That’s why God blesses some people above other people so we can raise ourselves from the dungeon of poverty.
Remember the Lord’s prayer, forgive us this day our trespasses as we forgive those that trespass against us. This means God likes to treat us the way and manner we treat other people.
When You Don’t Have Fellowship With God
John 15:7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
The essence of our creation is to have fellowship with the father. However, when the only time we go to God in prayer is when we need something from Him, it could cause God to leave our prayer request unattended. We must ensure we keep a balance and continuous relationship with God at all times.
God Maybe Teaching You Humility
James 4:10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you
God told Abraham, work before me and be perfect and I will make you a father of many nations. When God promises, sometimes he wants us to exhibit patience while we wait. God taught Abraham patience by letting him wait for long before he had a child. During those moments, Abraham prayed to God and it seems his prayers were not answered.
However, God was just teaching him to be patient while he waits. Similarly, sometimes God is not answering our prayers not because he doesn’t want to but He is trying to teach us patience and humility.
