Prayer Points For Family and Scriptures

Genesis 2:24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. Today we will be dealing with something that surrounds the family– prayer points for family and scriptures. The family is a very important institution created by God. The purpose of Family as commanded by God in the book of Genesis 2:24 is for strength, unity and to ensure the continuous existence of man on earth. We owe our family a duty of prayer. As we stated in our previous post on family, the devil is always on rampage against everything God has created. Just as the enemy is always on rampage against those who have been saved by the blood of Christ, he is also on rampage against the family. 

The enemy is scared of everything God has created because he knows there is a consequential purpose for all things God created. If only the devil knew the consequences of Christ being born a mortal man, he would have done everything to ensure the baby is not born. And even if the baby was born, he would have done more to ensure that Christ didn’t fulfill purpose. Since he failed at stopping Christ, he is always on the lookout for everything God created and love including the family.

Interestingly, your family is no exception. The enemy doesn’t want your family to prosper, but he won’t succeed at it. Today we will offer numerous prayer points for the family with scripture verses that can be used to pray.

Why Should We Use Scriptures To Pray

There are several reasons why it is important to pray using the scriptures, some of the importance of scripture include:

Scripture is Power

The scripture is powerful. It was not written from the idea of mortal men. It was inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is a testament of the power and supremacy of God. So when we pray with the scripture, it sends a cold shock down the spine of the devil. It gives authority to our prayers. 

Recall when Christ was rebuking the enemy that has come to tempt him. Luke 4:8 Jesus rebuked him and said, “Satan, get behind me! For it is written in the Scriptures, ‘Only One is worthy of adoration; therefore, worship only the Lord your God and love him supremely.’ ” Even Christ quotes the scripture saying it has been written. The scripture is the book that contains the rule of life. So when we pray using the scripture saying, It has been written, the enemy becomes scared. By the virtue of the scripture we have quoted, the enemy comes to a realization that we are not ignorant of our right, he realizes that we know the truth and we have been empowered by the knowledge of that truth. 

Scripture is The Promise of God

The scripture contains the promise of God. There is a promise of God for everything He has created including the family. It is a way of reminding God of his promises. The scripture made us understand that God is not a man to lie neither is he a son of man to repent. Whatever he has said will surely come to pass even when it doesn’t look like it. Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. Heaven and earth May pass but none of his words will go without fulfilling the purpose for which it was sent.  

Praying with the scriptures means reminding God of his promises over our family. And this gives credence to our prayer. 

Scripture Contains Rules and Regulations That Guides The Family 

As stated earlier, the scripture is a book containing divine rules and regulations for our daily lives. Praying with the scripture for our family gives us the knowledge of how God wants us to live our lives and govern our family. A Christian family is of God. Its peculiarities make it different from every other type of family. 

A Christian family can’t live and act like a casual one. The scripture teaches how a Christian family should live. Praying the scripture gives us the knowledge of God on how to live as a family. 

Prayer Points For Family and Scriptures

Here are the prayer points for families with scriptural verses you can use to pray. 

Pray For Protection 

Isaiah 54:17 – No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.”

It doesn’t matter if you are the head or last born of your family. The effectual prayers of the righteous avail. Pray for the protection of your family from plague, sickness, death and every evil plan of the enemy. The scripture said, Psalm 91:7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. Remind God of His covenant of protection over you and your household. No evil shall come to you or near your dwelling place. 

Pray For Strong Relationship 

Psalm 122:8 For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, “Peace be within you.”

Pray for unity and joy in your family. Pray against the arrow of disagreement, misunderstanding and anger among your family members. Pray that the peace of God Almighty will dwell in your household. Pray that God will show every member of your family peace, love and grace. Ask for the grace to love one another dearly 

Pray For Difficult Times

Psalm 30:5 For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. 

Pray for the grace to persevere during difficult times. Pray for the favor of God. The grace that will help you scale through the storm of life as an individual and as a family. Pray for the grace not to be overwhelmed by challenges of life. 

Pray For The Children

Ephesians 6:1-4 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise—  “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Pray for your children. The fruit of your marriage is one of the major reasons the devil is waging war against your family. He’s scared that God will raise a general in your lineage through your children. That’s why he will do everything possible to ensure that your children become evil. But recalled, the scripture said Isaiah 8:18 Here am I, and the children the LORD has given me. We are signs and wonders in Israel from the LORD Almighty, who dwells on Mount Zion. Your children are for signs and wonders. They will not be ruined by the enemy. Pray!

Pray For Provisions

Philippians 4:19 And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Pray for provision for your family. Pray that your needs are met according to his riches in glory through Christ Jesus. Pray against the demonic agent of lack and poverty. Pray that the fire of God consumes such demons. Pray for wealth and riches. Pray for good health. 

Pray For Healing 

James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

Pray for healing for every member of your family that is sick. The scripture said, He sent forth his word and healed their diseases. Pray that the mighty hands of God will take away every infirmity and heal all diseases. Pray that the grace of Jehovah will come mightily upon anyone who is seriously sick in your family. Declare healing upon them. Pray that every organ of their body is touched by the power in the name of Jesus. 

Pray against pain. Decree that the balm of Gilead that cures every wound and take away all pains come upon whoever is sick in your family today and heal them completely in the name of Jesus Christ.
