There is hardly a person who has not been in this position before. However, the time each person spends in this situation is all that makes the difference. A financial crisis can create anxiety, worry, fear, and sadness in the mind of anyone.

Meanwhile, the scripture had promised us in the book of Philippians 4:19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. The Bible also makes us understand that God is not a man to lie neither is he the son of man to repent. Whatever thing that has been spoken by God is confirmed. Nevertheless, despite the promise of God to supply all our needs, there are still deliberate efforts that Christians need to take in order not to fall into the pit of a financial crisis.

As a believer, you are not exempted from a financial crisis. It is a challenge that can face almost anyone. When a financial crisis hits a man, there are things he would want to do but won’t be able to do due to financial constraints. However, there are laid down principles that you can follow to overcome the challenge when it arises. Remember the story of how Joseph got access to the palace and became the prime minister of Egypt? Pharaoh had a dream which was interpreted by Joseph. Seven years of abundance and another seven years of famine, poverty, and extreme lack. Joseph advised King pharaoh on how they can overcome this crisis.

Get a Job

Deuteronomy 28:12 The LORD will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.

One mistake most believers make is thinking the name of Jesus is a money-making machine. Little wonder we have so many abled men and women going to church or prayer ground every day for miracles to happen. The blessing of the lord makes riches and adds no sorrow. When the lord will bless a man, God can’t bless an empty vessel. There has to be something in the hands of a man that God will bless.

The first step towards escaping the financial crisis is to get a job. When you have a job, there will be a return, whether monthly or daily, you will always expect something and with this, you can plan your expenses.

Have a written budget

Habakkuk 2:2 Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.

One of the most important things you must do is to have a written budget. When you have a written budget you will be able to work by the budget. Don’t just make the budget on your head it won’t work that way, write it down.

When God spoke to Prophet Habakkuk that write down the vision that he who reads with may run, that was because God understands the forgetfulness in the nature of man. It is easier for man to forget things that are not written down that why God compelled Habakkuk to write down the vision to serve as a guide.

Similarly in our financial life, one of the keys to escaping and overcoming a financial crisis is by writing down the budget. When the budget is structurally written down, it will serve as a guide to spend your income. With this, you will be able to tell if you are spending too much and make amends immediately.

Pay Your Tithe

Malachi 3:10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” says the LORD of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.

The blessing of the lord makes riches and adds no sorrow. The Bible commanded that all tithes should be brought into the house of the lord that there may be food in the storehouse. The scripture went further, try me now in this and see if I will not open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing that there won’t be enough room to contain it.

One of the ways to earn the blessings of the Lord by paying the tithe. One-tenth of your income should be paid as tithe. God has stated that we should test Him with it and see if He will not bless us beyond measures. God is not a man to lie neither is he a son of man to repent.

Save More and Spend Less

Genesis 41:35-36 They should collect all the food of these good years that are coming and store up the grain under the authority of Pharaoh, to be kept in the cities for food. This food should be held in reserve for the country, to be used during the seven years of famine that will come upon Egypt,w so that the country may not be ruined by the famine.”

Regardless of how much you earn, you will always have a time of plenteous and time that things will be a little hard. Even if your income is a little, there are months that your expenses would not be much, during this time, do not spend on frivolities. Save more for the rainy days.

This was the exact advice that Joseph gave to Pharoah that saved the entire land of Egypt from famine. Instead of spending excessively, try to save more when you can.
