Prayers Against War In The Nation

Today we will be dealing with prayers against war in the nation. The state of the nation keeps getting disturbing, discouraging, baffling, terrifying by the minute. At some point, some social media influencers advised that we take some time off social media if we want to protect our mental health because the news we get to read every day is enough to cause mental stress. Needless to say that Nigeria is a case study as we read the news on matters of bad governance, insecurity and other social vices there may be.

Rather than spend time watching news, complaining and agitating, we can do something more productive because truth be told, complaining does nothing. Just as we have people in a company with different roles, with the presence of division of labour, so do we have people in this context, our role as Christians is to stand in the place of prayer and intercede, pray for intervention, make things happen in the Spirit to where things are controlled to the physical.

What then does the Bible say about praying for our country?

In the Old Testament, we see God’s people calling on Him in prayer collectively as a people. Let’s see 2 Chronicles 7:13-14, which says, “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land”.

As Christians, we understand by the Word that we are the Salt and Light of the world. It is our responsibility to stand in the gap on behalf of our country, Nigeria.

1Tim.2:1-2 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

In as much as we have witnessed unpleasant experiences in the hands of our leaders, no doubts, we still pray because scriptures instructs it. We pray for repentance for our leaders, a heart of compassion and wisdom, we pray against evil schemes, plans and devices of the evil ones, protection from danger we pray for God’s Mercy and protection upon us all, with the consciousness that He hears us and we receive answers.

Daniel 2:21 “He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.”

PRAYER POINTS

• Father in the name of Jesus, we thank you for your mighty hand upon our nation at all times in Jesus name.
• Heavenly Father we pray that our nation shall not suffer civil unrest in the name of Jesus.
• Oh Lord our God, creator of the Universe, we ask that your mighty hand will rest upon us as a nation in the name of Jesus.
• Oh Lord our Father, we intercede for our nation, Nigeria, no war shall come upon us in the name of Jesus.
• Heavenly Father we pray that our leaders receive wisdom to lead us for peaceful and harmonious coexistence in the name of Jesus
• Father Lord we come against every form of unrest in any state of the country, we declare Peace in our homes, cities, towns, states in the name of Jesus.
• Heavenly Father, we put an end to every social crimes in our nation in the name of Jesus. Lord, intervene in the governance our our nation in Jesus name.
• Heavenly Father, we pray that our lives are preserved from every form of danger in the name of Jesus.
• Father in the name of Jesus, we pray for peaceful coexistence amongst us as individuals, families, institutions and as a nation in Jesus name
• Oh Lord Our Father, we intercede for Nigeria, war shall have no place in our land in the name of Jesus.
• Father in the name of Jesus, we put an end of every form of violence. We put an end to oppression in our nation in Jesus name.
• Oh Lord our Father, we pray that you shall be our defence from evil attacks, from harm and danger in the name of Jesus Christ.
• We commit each state into your able hands, let your mighty hand rest upon us all in Jesus name.
• Every agenda, plan or scheme of the evil ones upon our nation to cause war, we declare them null and void in the name of Jesus.
• We come against every agenda of massive shooting by the government bodies, we come against gang violence in any form in the name of Jesus Christ.
• Father, we pray that you help us to put away our weapons of warfare and tools of destruction in the name of Jesus.
• Father Lord we pray that you help each one of us to love you and extend this love to others so as to rid all forms of evil thought towards another in the name of Jesus.
• We come against every uprising of war in Nigeria, in our states, towns and villages in the mighty name of Jesus.
• We come against every form of division that might propel the rise of war in our country in the name of Jesus Christ.
• Help us to embrace love, peace and harmony as individuals, families, institutions, states and in our country as a whole in the name of Jesus.
• Father Lord, we ask that you grant wisdom to every one in positions of power to use it wisely, Father guard there thoughts and decisions for the betterment of every citizen in the name of Jesus.
• We pray for peace, that our homes are kept, our cities and roads are safe, our nation is chaos free in the name of Jesus Christ.
• Father Lord we thank you because as we have asked, so shall you do unto us as we have spoken, you’ve heard us, we thank you because war is not known with us in the name of Jesus.
