Today we will be teaching ourselves on five reasons we must raise Godly children. If you are a Godly husband or wife, you must raise Godly children. Many parents, Christian parents inclusive, thinks raising a child is all about taking the child to the church after you must have provided everything basic amenities the child needs. Well, raising Godly children goes beyond taking them to the church. Eli’s children grew up in the temple, and yet they were not Godly.
The moment you lose a bit of consciousness as a parent, the enemy is not far from inflicting the heart of your little one with evil. It is because the heart of a young child is fragile. It is sophisticated enough to allow the invasion of the holy spirit and tender enough to allow the devil’s manipulation. Little wonder the scripture said in the book of Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Raising Godly children is our duty as parents to the children and commitment to God. Being a pastor doesn’t make your children Godly. It demands a consistent effort to achieve. Eli was a priest, but yet his children wallow in sin and iniquity. He was so busy with his priesthood duty that he didn’t deem it fit to reprimand his children when the need arises. The successful existence of our children bothers on our moral and spiritual conduct and alertness. You can’t afford to allow the devil to gain possession of your children’s mind.
If you are not sure as to why you need to raise Godly children, we will highlight and explain five reasons you need to. We hope this will awake the sleeping Christian parent inside of you and help you make amends where necessary.
Five Reasons You Must Raise Godly Children
1. Because God Commanded It
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old, he will not depart from it.
First, before anything, the reason you must strive to bring your kids up in the way of the lord is that God commanded it. God is not oblivious of the mischief that harbors in the mind of a little one when they are not tendered to properly. That’s why God instructed that children should be brought up in the way of the lord so that when they grow up, they will not depart from it.
You must know that just your child was born naked, so is everything about them is naked. They don’t have a name, religion, or language. They solely rely on their family to give all these to them. A child is most like to keep the name given to him by his parents, so also is he likely to remain in the part that was shown to him by his parents. That’s why the scripture admonished that they are trained in the way they should go so that when they grow up, they won’t depart from it.
2. Because Their Destiny Rely On It
God is the author of everyman’s destiny. You must do your part as parents, not ruin the destiny of your children as a parent. Eli was from the lineage of Leviticus. His family was born to be priests of the Lord. Eli, because he was raised well by his father, ascended the position of priesthood. However, after Eli became a priest, he got so busy that he refused to raise his children in the way of the Lord.
Eli’s children would steal from the offerings that people have given for sacrifice. They sleep with different women. And while these were going on, people would report the dastard act perpetrated by Eli’s children to him, and yet he would do nothing about it. The anger of the Lord was upon Eli’s children; they died mysteriously. The news of Eli’s death was too much for him to bear. The scripture recorded that Eli fell to death, broke his neck, and choke in his vomit.
Because Eli relented raising his children in a Godly way, God declared that Eli and his households are cut off from his favor.
3. So They Can Give You Rest
Proverbs 29:17 Correct your son, and he will give you rest; Yes, he will give delight to your soul
You are most likely to be tormented by the error of not raising your kids in the way of the lord. A child raised in a Godly manner will fear God and do all that God commanded, including to obey his parents. However, a child whose upbringing is deprived of Godliness will do almost anything.
When you are old and your strength fails you, your labor on children will determine if you will find rest before death or not. We have seen quite a number of cases of children beating up their aged parents. We have cases of children getting their parents into one trouble or another. Indeed, the scripture was not mistaken when it commanded that Children should be raised in the way of the lord so they can give their parents rest.
4. So That The Enemy Doesn’t Win Their Soul
After all your efforts here on earth, it will be an epic failure if you allow the devil to win the soul of your children. The scripture said in the book of 1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
The devil goes about day and night looking for whom to devour. He would not devour them eating their flesh. He will devour them, ripping out their righteousness and making them a more helpful tool to themselves. However, this can be averted by making a conscious effort of raising a child in the way of the lord.
5. So That They Can Be Useful To God
1 Samuel 2:26 And the child Samuel grew in stature, and in favor with the LORD and men.
The primary purpose of our existence as a human is to serve God, albeit we have other divine purposes to fulfill on earth. Samuel was dedicated to the things of the Lord by his mother, Hannah. That’s why Samuel grew in the temple of the lord, serving under Eli the Priest.
When children are raised in the way of the lord, they are not only valuable for parents; they become a potent tool in the hands of God.
Conclusively, Godly parenting is very is very important in the life of any child. You must ensure that you do your part today as parent.
