One thing is common during Christmas, chicken, and rice is the approved meal for this great day. To many Christians, Christmas is not complete without a plate of yummy jollof rice and magnanimous chicken breast. Besides this, many people are out of ideas for Christmas. It is time to change the norms. The fact that we are Christians doesn’t mean we should leave a boring life. Although we have our limits as believers, nevertheless, there are great ideas for Christmas.
5 Ways Christians Can Celebrate Christmas
Visit Attraction Sites
For the records, the celebration of Christmas doesn’t just end on the 25th of December. The whole week is for the celebration of Christmas. If you are unable to go out on Christmas day you can still step out elegantly on boxing Day which is the 26th of December.
It is not enough for you to stay at home and eat alone. There is a need to go out and visit places. On the verge of going out, you can extend the gospel of Christ. There is no better place to spread the good news of Christ than a place filled with numerous people. While it is impossible for you to visit attractions with a megaphone for preaching, you can adopt the one on one method of evangelizing. Meet with people, build networks for yourself, and spread the gospel of Christ.
So, let this Christmas be different from the ones you used to do. Ensure you do something different this year. If you have not been going out on Christmas day, it is time for you to do that this year. There are so many tourist centers you can visit. The fact that you are a believer doesn’t mean your life and existence should be boring. Step out this Christmas.
Do More of Charity
True happiness doesn’t come from the accumulation of wealth and resources. Even good health doesn’t bring complete happiness. You can only get complete happiness in bringing hope, sunshine, and light into the life of another man.
As you celebrate Christmas with your friends and family, bear in mind that there are several persons out there who don’t enjoy the things you enjoy. They don’t have access to the things you have access to. These are the people you should target this Christmas. Christianity is never a religion. Don’t believe the old fallacy people say about Christianity being a religion. Christianity is a way of life. That means, every God’s children deserve love and care from those of us that call ourselves Christians.
Instead of focusing on your family and friends alone, remember that there are several people around who don’t have hope for Christmas yet. Celebrate your Christmas by making other people smile. Celebrate the birth of Christ by being the reason why someone could smile on Christmas day.
Decorate Your Home
Christ is the joy of the season. Jesus is the reason why we celebrate Christmas. As a rule of thumb, the celebration of Christmas comes with a color which is Red and White. Let the look of your home declare the joy of the season as it is written in the book of Psalm 19:1The heavens declare the glory of God, And the firmament shows His handiwork.
When people see your house this Christmas they would not need anyone to interpret to them that Christ is the joy of the season. Don’t just exhaust your money on food, get some Christmas decorations. Get the Christmas tree and light. This decoration alone brings joy and happiness to minds of people. It tells us about the undying love of the Father. It teaches us about the unquestionable love of Christ Jesus, how he persevered on the cross and how he died and resurrected for our sake.
Attend Christmas Candlelight Service
To mark the celebration of Christmas, churches all over the globe host Christmas candlelights. It is a night of music rendition, sermon, and prayers. This service tells us more about Christmas. Many Christians don’t attend Christmas candlelight. The candlelight is not just for music. There are teaching that will tell us the importance of the birth of Christ. Also, some dramas resonate with the mind of kids teaching them about the man called Jesus.
This candlelight is one of the Christmas traditions. However, it is sad that most Christians don’t even know the importance of this service, hence they only attend when they are privileged. The celebration of Christmas is never complete without candlelight. And the celebration of this season is so dynamic to an extent that it doesn’t get boring each year. While you listen to the chorister’s music rendition, the sermon and drama are also things to lift our spirit this Christmas.
Help Kids Believe In Santa
Children do believe in Santa until they turn teenagers. At this age, they get to discover that the existence of Santa is just an urban legend carefully orchestrated by older adults to have them bring gifts. The purpose of Santa is to teach kids how to give. They are made to believe Santa will come and take the gifts they have presented. Many of these gifts go to the needy during Christmas.
However, when children stop believing in Santa, the purpose of sharing gifts will be defeated. During this Christmas, teach the kids around you to believe in Santa. Help them learn how to give from the little they have. When they are taught this way, it would not be hard for them to give to the needy when they grow into mature adults. Little wonder the scripture says in Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it. When these children are old, they will never stop giving.
Conclusively, Christmas is a season of love. Spread the love this season and beyond. Stop hating, forgive people and love your neighbor just as Christ loves us.
