What does the word meditate mean? ‘To engage in contemplation or reflection or to focus one’s thoughts on.’ David said, ‘I will consider all Your works and meditate on all Your mighty deeds.’ Question: until you meditate on God’s Word, what can you say that will make any real difference? All you will be doing is sharing your opinion, which is just one of many. You will not be able to speak convincingly or make any real difference in the life of the person to whom you are speaking. It’s God’s Word that changes people’s lives, not yours! Here are ten benefits of meditating on God’s Word:

  • It cultivates within you a love for God and His Word.
  • It gives you new insights and spiritual understanding.
  • It’s a source of reassurance and strength.
  • It empowers you to be a genuine witness for Jesus Christ.
  • It renews your mind.
  • It protects you from sin.
  • It restores your soul and your emotions.
  • It enables you to trust in the Lord with all your heart.
  • It causes your spirit to come alive.
  • It assists you in understanding God, others, and yourself. There is great power in God’s Word, and Bible meditation gives you access to that power.

‘We have everything we need to live a life that pleases God. It was all given to us by God’ s own power, when we learned He had invited us to share in His wonderful goodness. God made great and marvellous promises, so His nature would become part of us. Then we could escape our evil desires and the corrupt influences of this world.’ (2 Peter 1:3–4).Fight your fears with God’s Word

‘Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.’ Psalm 56:3

Fear and faith are both powerful forces. And the one you surrender to will control you. So here are some Scriptures to fight your fears: ‘Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord…will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.’ (1 Chronicles 28:20 )

‘The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust.’ (Psalm 18:2)

‘In God I have put my trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?’ (Psalm 56:11 NKJV)

‘He will not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.’ (Psalm 112:7)

‘Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me.’ (Psalm 23:4 )

‘My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.’ (John 14:27)

‘Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.’ (Philippians 4:6–7)

‘Nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.’ (Romans 8:38)

According to the mandate given to us by Jesus in Mark 16:17, as believers, we are to cast out devils in His name. Any believer who is filled with the Holy Ghost can cast out demons from a demon possessed fellow (Acts 16:16-18). Let us put that authority given to us to use. Meditating on God’s words helps us and do not render us clueless regardless of the situation we find ourselves in. There was a time a popular man of God went to a non christian country and was asked to drop his bible before entering the country, he obeyed and left his bible at the entrance, but when asked by his followers why he did so, he told them that they can’t take away what he has read and his meditation of God’s word from the bible. This shows the importance of meditation.

HOW TO MEDITATE: A BEGINNER’S GUIDE

If you’ve been curious about meditation, there’s no better time to start than now. Find peace of mind with our simple steps for regularly practicing meditation.

WHAT IS MEDITATION?

Sometimes, our minds can feel like they have minds of their own. A mind is a powerful force, one that can bask you in sunshine just as quickly as it can usher in a storm of dark clouds. Many people spend a good portion of their waking hours caught in a swirl of thoughts about the past or future, often without even realizing it. While thinking is an intrinsic part of being human, getting swept up in it can take its toll. Meditation offers an opportunity to quiet the mental noise and simply exist in the present moment.

Both meditation and mindfulness have gained popularity as more people discover the importance of mental wellness. Meditation is the act of closing your eyes and tuning into your thoughts, and mindfulness is the practice of being aware of the present moment throughout your day rather than going on autopilot. Though they are different practices, meditation is a tool to bring mindfulness to your everyday.

The benefits of meditation are plenty, from reducing stress and anxiety and channeling better focus to having more compassion for both yourself and others. The more you practice, the more you’ll feel these mindfulness benefits throughout your life. Meditation for beginners isn’t about controlling your thoughts but rather learning to experience them as if you’re watching clouds gently float across the sky. You acknowledge that they’re there, let them pass, and allow for the blue sky to return.

HOW TO START MEDITATING

“Notice where your mind is in this moment. Is it travelling in the future, or is it still lingering in the past? Invite yourself to come to this present moment, the present moment where you just acknowledge the breath, and life can be just what it is.

Find a time in your day when you won’t be disturbed. When you’re first starting out, try meditating for ten minutes or less. As you get more used to sitting with yourself, you can work up to larger chunks of time.

  • Find a Quiet Space; this is a really important aspect of meditating as it helps you focus well when you want to read your bible and pray to God
  • Get Comfortable with people around you who can help you relax with the word of God and mentor you
  • Breathe; when there’s life there’s hope , you’re not alone, do away with all the frustration and depression and let God have His ways .This will connects you to your Creator and let your mind and body know it’s time to relax.
  • Listen to Your Guide; the bible bring us the goodnews that we need and want to hear . Every word of comfort is found in the bible.
