Today we will be dealing with psalms to fight evil. The book of psalms have been regarded as a book of spiritual motivation, inspiration, protection, comfort and guidance for people seeking peace in time of need. Psalms go beyond the poetic beauty and amazing rhythms, it has the capacity to combat evil forces. This portion of the scripture has many verses written for the sole purpose of fighting evil and putting the works of devil to shame. It has worked for people in the past, it is still working and it will work for you as well. All you need is your faith.
Today we will delve into a selection of psalms that can be use to fight evil forces. Also, we have prayed relevant prayer points according to the leading of the Holy Spirit to help us on this journey.

Psalm 91
Psalm 91 is often referred to as the Psalm of refuge for those that needs protection. This is because of its powerful imagery of God’s protection. Verses 1-2 set the tone: “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.'”
Prayer Point: Pray for the covering of God’s protection over yourself, your loved ones, and your surroundings, asking for deliverance from all forms of evil. Pray for the grace to continue to abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
Psalm 23
Psalm 23, known as the “Shepherd’s Psalm. This psalm illustrates God as the protector of the sheep. It mirrors God as the good shepherd that cares deeply about the safety of His sheep and would go any extent to ensure the sheep are saved. Verse 4 carries special significance in the context of battling evil: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
Prayer Point: Seek God’s guidance and strength to navigate challenging situations, trusting that His presence will dispel fear and evil influences. Pray that His presence will not depart from you in this period of festivities and beyond. Pray that the wolf of life do not snatch you or any member of your family. Pray that the hands of God Almighty will be upon you and every member of your family.
Psalm 27
Psalm 27 expresses confidence in God’s protection and salvation. This is a psalm to build your confidence and faith in God especially in time of trouble. The psalm declared in verse 1 that the Lord is the light of my salvation whom shall I fear? When you make the Lord the light of your salvation, you worry less about who is contending against you.
Verse 1, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
Prayer Point: Pray for spiritual illumination and the strength to stand firm against the darkness of evil, knowing that God is the ultimate source of light and salvation. Pray that the light of God illuminate the darkness of your life, the darkness in your path should be consumed by the light of God.
Psalm 37
Psalm 37 How strong is your faith in God. This is a psalm to boost your faith in God. This portion of the scripture declares that the Lord saves those that take refuge in God. When you take refuge in God, you will be saved.
Verse 40 promises, “The Lord helps them and delivers them; He delivers them from the wicked and saves them because they take refuge in Him.”
Prayer Point: Seek deliverance from evil influences and pray for the strength to maintain trust and patience while relying on God’s guidance. Pray for the grace to continually rely on the guidance of God. Ask that the Lord strengthens you so you are not blown away by the wind of temptation, tribulation or hardship.
Psalm 51
Psalm 51, is a prayer of repentance. The wages of sin is death but we earn repentance through Christ Jesus. Sin could open doors to evil. It could make us vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy. The scripture says the hands of the Lord is not too heavy to rescue us, but it is our sin that has created barrier between us and God. Asking for the forgiveness of sin could be our first step towards coming under the protection of God.
The verse 10 expressively stated, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”
Prayer Point: Repent of any wrongdoing and ask for God’s cleansing power to purify your heart and spirit, creating a barrier against the infiltration of evil. Tell God to create a right spirit within you. Ask that the power of the Holy Spirit uphold you. Pray that the power of hell doesn’t have dominion over you.
Psalm 140
Psalm 140 is a plea for deliverance from evil men. It is a prayer for deliverance from the schemes of the wicked. Verses 1-2 petition, “Deliver me, O Lord, from evil men; preserve me from violent men, who plan evil things in their hearts and stir up wars continually.”
Prayer Point: Cry out to God for protection and deliverance from the evil intentions of others, asking for divine intervention in the face of adversity. Ask that God deliver you from the snare of the wicked.
