To whom much is given, much is expected . Moses was ordained by God with great power and authority to lead His people into the promised land. He communicated with God , however denied him entry into Canaan because of one act of disobedience. Moses even went to God to beg for forgiveness of sin, and asked for permission to enter into the promised land . God told Moses, ” do not ever pray about this again” . Again and again Moses had made intercession for Israel before God, and God had forgiven their sins . But in this instance , Moses was not even allowed to intercede for himself ! God was specific in His instruction. ” speak to the Rock” , but he struck the Rock instead because of his anger . God said what Moses did was an act of unbelief and as well as failure to demonstrate His holiness before His people ( Num.20:12) . If one disobeys God’s laws and having been rendered in his likeness , succumbs to temptation , one denies God in himself.

Prayer Points For Grace and Mercy

Hebrews 4:15-16
Hebrews 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Prayer is a means of communication with our heavenly Father. In life, communication really matters. When there is a break in the chain of communication with our heavenly Father, the devil and accuser come in without much effort.
This article will be teaching us about prayer points for Grace and Mercy. Grace and Mercy is a pillar upon which the edifice of our faith as Christians is built. Through Christ Jesus, we earn a life of Grace and obtain Mercy through Christ Jesus. Unlike the popular law of karma that postulated the theory of give and take, Grace, is an unmerited blessing, that is, a blessing or favour that one did not work. While Mercy is the tenderness, kindness, favour or blessing that one receives instead of cruel judgement. Grace and Mercy are quite eminent to God our heavenly father, because of His Mercy on mankind, he sent His only begotten son to come to die for our sins, so that we can be saved by Grace through Him.

WHY IS GRACE AND MERCY SO IMPORTANT?

The book of Romans 9:15-16, explains the importance of God’s Mercy. That portion of the Bible reiterated the importance of Mercy. The Bible says it is not of him that willeth and runneth, but of God that sheweth Mercy. That means the works of our hands isn’t sufficient for prosperity, our righteousness isn’t a benchmark for our salvation. The Bible says we are no longer cursed by the law but saved by Grace. Romans 6:14 explains that the concept of our faith and salvation is made possible by the Grace of God through Jesus Christ.
Judging by all these facts, one can decipher the importance of Grace and Mercy.
We have critically compiled a list of Prayer Points for Grace and Mercy that every believer should say to God every day.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father Lord, thank you for your abundant Grace over us, thank you for the Mercy that you have shown for me as a believer through Christ Jesus. It is by your Grace and Mercy that I’m not consumed, thank you, Father.

2. Father Lord, thank you for the gift of Jesus Christ. Our salvation and redemption were made possible by Christ Jesus, thank you for this wonderful gift given unto mankind.

3. Father Lord, let your Mercy that speaks in place of judgement continue to speak for me throughout my sojourn on earth.

4. By your Mercy Lord, save me from the snare of an accuser, let me not be condemned by the judgement of my accuser.

5. Father Lord, the Bible says let he that thinks he stands to take heed lest he falls. Lord by your Grace, keep me standing with you till the very end. Help me stand in faith, do not let me miss it.

6. Heavenly Father, the Bible made us understand that it is not of he that willeth or runneth but of God that Sheweth Mercy. Concerning my endeavours, let your Mercy speak for me. Lord God, every closed door against my success and prosperity, let them be open by Mercy.

7. Lord God, do not let me be consumed by sin. Your Grace has been made sufficient, please help me overcome sin through your Grace, endow me with the Grace to sin so more.

8. Father Lord, I seek the forgiveness of my sins and iniquities. Your word says even if my sin is as red as scarlet; they shall be made whiter than snow. I ask that by your Grace, you purge and wash me away from my sin.

9. Father Lord, help me to always listen to your instructions, give me the Grace to always hearken to your directives. I don’t want to do anything based on my mortal instinct anymore, help me obey you, even if the instruction may look stupid to men, help me obey.

10. Father Lord, By your Mercy and Grace, grant me according to my heart desire. Nothing is hidden in thy sight, you know my strength and weaknesses, provide my needs with precision this day.

11. Heavenly Father, by your Grace, help me stand the test of time. Do not let trials, tribulations and temptation sweep me away from your presence. Help my faith grow in you and you only.

12. Father Lord, you are the creator of all things, let a ray of your abundant light penetrate the thick darkness of my needs in you. By your Grace Lord, help increase my level of spirituality.

13. Father Lord, I understand that the purpose of our existence as a believer is to win more souls into the Kingdom. Give me the grace to preach the good news of your words to the unbelievers. Through your Mercy, help them come to the realization of you, let them know that you and you alone is God overall.

14. Lord God, I pray that you enhance me to grow old in you. Give me the grace not to be shaken by the signs and distraction of this end time. Help me Lord to gainfully attain my heavenly citizen through Christ Jesus.

15. Heavenly Lord, your word says we should pray for the good of Jerusalem, that those who love it shall prosper. Lord God, help Nigeria stand on her feet again. Restore unto this country the good tidings of heaven. Let your light of truth, transparency and love overshadowed all the men at the corridor of power.

16. Lord God by your Grace and Mercy, help me have a forgiving spirit. I understand that the nature of man is a brutal one, but help your Holy Spirit to grow in me that I will forgive every one that has committed an atrocity against me.

Prayer Points For Soul Winning

2 Corinthians 5:17-20:
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

Today we shall be engaging on prayer points for soul winning. Soul winning simply means, telling unbelievers about jesus and by the help of the Holy Spirit, converting them to accept Jesus as their Lord and personal saviour. Every child of God is ordained a fruit bearing child. The reason why God did not rapture you the day you gave your life to Christ is because He wants you to lead others to Him. Every child of God has been given the ministry of reconciliation, to reconcile the world to God. Christ has died for the world, that means the whole world is saved. The salvation of the whole world have been paid for,but thread truth is this, many will still go to hell because the don’t know about Jesus sacrifice or the rejected His sacrifice for them. That is why its very crucial that we as believers go out there to tell people about Jesus Christ, we must tell them about His love and His sacrifice for them on the cross of calvary. We must let the world know that God is no longer mad at them, His son Jesus has paid the price for their sins and condemnation. We must tell them to accept the love of Jesus into their hearts so that the can benefit from the salvation that God has given us through Christ Jesus.

WHY MUST WE PRAY FOR SOUL WINNING.

2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Prayer is the only force that can convert a sinner to a saint. Prayers is what makes the word of God carry power. Jesus fasted and prayed for 40 days and came back with the power to fulfill His ministry. Soul winning is a spiritual adventure, we are on a mission to snatch people from hell to heaven, from the devil to God, its is a spiritual battle and one must prepare on the altar of prayers. When we pray for souls, we subdue the forces of darkness waging war against their lives. Through prayer we pull down strongholds, holding unbelievers down and stopping them from accepting Jesus as Lord. A lot of people are under the captivity of the devil, some are held down by sinful addictions, anti christian ideas and other demonic forces. These forces must be subdued for these individuals to hear the gospel, and it takes prayers to subdue them. The purpose for these prayer points for soul winning is to release spiritual forces to subdue the powers of darkness holding unbelievers down, so that when they hear the gospel, they will believe and accept Jesus Christ. Are you a Pastor? Or a committed Christian, this prayer points for soul winning is all you need to see the hand of God in your outreaches. Does The Bible Allow Divorce?

Divorce have become the order of the day in our world today. The devil is desperately attacking marriages in this end time. In the past, divorce was only common among unbelievers, but these days, it is now a common occurrence amongst Christians today. Sadly even pastors have become victims of broken marriages. Divorce is an end time tool of the devil to destroy the reputation of the church. But today we shall be examining an important question, Does the bible allow divorce? What does the bible say about the issue of divorce? Is the bible for it or against it? Also we shall be looking at prayers to stop divorce and restore marriage. I believe that by the end of this article today, the God of heaven shall give you solution to your marriage in Jesus name.

WHAT IS DIVORCE?

Divorce can be defined as the legal separation between a man and his wife or a woman and her husband. This can be as a result of many reasons, some of which will be discussed in this article. Divorce must be done legally before it is recognized. You cannot just ask your wife or husband to pack out of your house and say you have divorced her. That is not divorce, it is called seperation. Even though both of you are not living together, you are still married and any attempt to be intimate with another person will be seen as adultery. Just as marriage is legally binding, divorce also must be carried out legally. This still leads us to the same question, does the bible allow divorce? Can I divorce my spouse without offending God? Read on.

GOD’S POSITION ABOUT DIVORCE

What is God’s position on the subject matter on divorce? This is the heart of these article and here I will be displaying some bible verses about divorce and we shall be examining them one by one. A good understanding of these subject will better inform our discussion as married couples. Now to know God’s position on divorce, let’s start from the Old testament.

Old Testament View On Divorce.

Deuteronomy 24:1 When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house. 24:2 And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man’s wife. 24:3 And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife; 24:4 Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

We see from the above scripture in the Old testament that a man is permitted to divorce his wife, if she finds no favour in his eyes, or if he finds uncleanness in her. The reasons given here are not really clear or even fair for the woman, but God gave them the permission to let there wives go. Why would God do that? This is because He understands the selfishness of man, he knows that its better for the woman to be set free than for her to be in constant torment under the rulership of an ungrateful man. So God commanded them to issue a certificate of divorce to the woman. It might interest you to know that the certificate of divorce protects the woman from the man. Should the woman become successful tomorrow or marries a better man in the future, the former husband cannot come back to make false claims that she is his property anymore. But does this means God Loves Divorce?. Let’s us look at another Old testament verse.

Malachi 2:16 For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.

God made his position clear in the above Scripture, that He hates divorce. God does not love divorce at all. It is not His perfect will that we put away our wives. Every marriage is suppose to endure till death. When it comes to divorce, Gods position is clear on that. Now if God actually hates divorce, does it mean we should never consider it? To answer this let’s look at what Jesus has to say about divorce.

Matthew 5:31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: 5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

Here Jesus actually condemned the Jewish pattern of divorce, He saw how men were treating women in his time and using the law as an excuse. He therefore told them, that you should never divorce your wife, except for the sin of unfaithfulness. Its important for us to understand that Jesus was talking to the Jews, and he knew how serious the laws of moses was when it comes to adultery. So he allowed them to divorce on that grounds, but what did Jesus teach us through the Epistles about divorce?

1 Corinthians 7:10 And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: 7:11 But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife. 7:12 But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away. 7:13 And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. 7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. 7:15 But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace. 7:16 For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how
knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife?

The above scripture here is clear, if you are married, you should not seek for a divorce, but if you must be divorced, then you must remain unmarried or reconcile with your husband. ( Verse 10-11). There is also an important point I want you to see in 1 Corinthians 7:13-15. The bible said that if you marry a man who believes not and he is okay with your faith, you should stay in the marriage, but if he decides to divorce you because of your faith, then you are free to marry again with fear of offending God.

Haven seen all this bible verses from old testament to new, what is our conclusion about Gods stand about divorce? Its simple. GOD HATES DIVORCE, BUT HE PERMITS IT ONLY WHEN NECESSARY. Now let us look at some reasons you should never divorce.

WRONG REASONS FOR DIVORCE

We are going to be looking at 7 reasons you shouldn’t divorce your spouse. I believe that this will help us as we go though our marital destiny.

1). Adultery

Adultery is a sexual relationship between a married man and a married woman or a married man and a single woman or a married woman and a single man. Please do not divorce your spouse just because they fell into the sin of adultery. There are many reasons why people fall into the sin off adultery, while we have impossible cases, most cases can be managed and handled with counselling and prayers. There are many reasons why a man can be unfaithful to his wife, non of them are justified, but most of them can be handled through prayers, the same goes for the woman. If you are going through this challenges in your marriage, go to your pastors and seek spiritual counselling, try to understand what your husband/wife wants and give it to him. As a woman, check your character and attitude to see if you are the one driving him away from the house. Also couples, especially men must learn to forgive each other and move on in there marriages. Unfaithfulness can lead to divorce, but in many cases, it can be handled through proper spiritual guidance.

2). Sickness:

A lot of couples divorce, just becomes one of them is sick and hence becomes a burden to the other, this is pure wickedness and selfishness. You should never abandon your spouse. Whatever he or she is going through, both of you are in it together. Its sad to see many wives abandon there sick husbands in marriage or husbands do the same. This is not godly and as a believer you should never consider it. Prayers and faith is the solution to all sicknesses and diseases. Stand with your spouse in prayers and stand with him or her till the end.

3). Poverty:

Many couples go there separate ways because of poverty. This is a wrong reason to divorce your spouse. Poverty is a state of the mind, and its a temporary situation. Abandoning your partner because he or she is broke is wrong/ Marriage is for better for worse, both of you must come together and fight poverty out of your marriage.

4). Bad Habits:

This is when your spouse has a bad behavior, for instance, gambling, alcohol, smoking etc. These habits can definitely be a challenge in the family. As a wife/husband you can fight this in two ways, get a job and be prayerful. Abandoning a man or woman because of a habit that they cannot control is not the will of God for you. That is why God wants us to seek His face before marriage. When you notice a bad habit in the life of your spouse, pray for him/her and encourage them to seek spiritual help.

5). Spiritual Challenges:

This is a situation where the challenge of your marriage is as a result of demonic oppression. Many couples lack the capacity to persevere in their marriage. When the battles of life gets tough, the both go there separate ways. This is not God’s perfect will for you. We must pray always and not faint. It takes violent faith expressed through prayers to overcome spiritual challenges.

6). Unfruitfulness:

It is sad whenever a man tells his wife that their marriage is over just because she can’t give him a child or children. If you are truly born again, you will understand that it is very wrong to do that. We serve a God of fruitfulness, and when you are facing a challenge of unfruitfulness in your marriage, you must call on God in prayers, and also seek medical attention to find out the reason for the delay. Both of you are in this together, therefore divorce is not an option.

7). Irreconcilable Differences:

Lies! Lies!! Lies!!! These is the most common lie told by most unbelieving couples including Christians when they are looking for the easy way out of a marriage. Most issues of irreconcilable differences can really be reconcilable if both couples are willing, but most times they are not. As a child of God you must strive very hard to make your marriage work, both of you must work so hard to settle your differences in order to avoid divorce.

RIGHT REASONS FOR DIVORCE

Yes you read that correctly, there are right reasons why a Christian can divorce. Not every union is joined by God, and any union that is not joined by God, must be put assunder. Now let’s examine some right reasons for divorce.

1) Fake Marriage:

A fake marriage is when someone gets married to another not because of love but because of some selfish reasons. Such people come into your life with lies, the fake every I about them making you think they love you. They may even pretend to be Christians just to get you to say yes. They are devil sent. A good examples are:
a) Men or Women who marry you because of your money
b). Men or Women who marry you to get permanent residence in your country
c). Political marriages.
These marriages are not ordained by God and therefore when one discovers that he or she is married to a fake person, divorce is highly advised.

2). False Marriage:

A false marriage is a marriage that is founded on lies and deception. This is similar to a fake marriage only that it is more subtle. For instance, a man is impotent and he know it, but did not tell his fiancee about it all through courtship only for her to discover on their wedding night. Or a woman who has damaged her womb and she knows it and deliberately hides it from her partner until after marriage. Such marriages cannot hold. God did not join them, because the foundation of the marriage is falsehood. You cannot hide sensitive details about yourself, details that will affect your spouse from them. In such cases, divorce is highly recommended.

3). Diabolic Marriage:

A diabolic marriage is when someone is hypnotized by demonic influences into marriage. Many men and women where manipulated into marriages by demonic forces. For instance, many men are victims of love portion, a mystical drink that can make a man fall in love with you instantly. Also many men consults witch doctors for love charms that can help them manipulate young ladies into marriage. Such union is demonic and when one is delivered, he or she is advised to seek divorce.

4).Threat To Life:

Anything that threatens your life is not good for you, including marriage. Many women have suffered and are still suffering from brutality in marriage. Husbands turning there wives into lunching bags. Many women have been killed in such marriages. When you are in a marriage where the man is threatening you or has made an attempt on your life, run for your life. Seek a divorce.

5). Clash Of Faith:

This is simple,if you are an unbeliever and marry another unbeliever, then over the years, you become a Christian,if the unbeliever is okay with that fine ,but if he/she is not then you have two options;either you denounce your faith or you seek divorce,if tgbat is the next option.

6). Reckless Abandonment:

Any man or woman that abandons his family does not deserve that family. If you walk away from your marriage then you don’t diserve that marriage. Many men abandon there wives and children to f1 Corinthians 7:39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.follow there mistress. In fact some of them even decides not to come back home again, thereby keeping there partners trapped in a marriage. No one deserves to be trapped in such a marriage. In cases like these divorce is advised

7). Death:

1 Corinthians 7:39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.
The above scripture has said it all. Death is the only thing that ends marriage naturally. But as a believer you must marry only in the Lord. That is a fellow Christian.

HOW TO AVOID DIVORCE

In order to avoid divorce, you must not be in a haste to be married, take out time to study your potential spouse. You must be prayerful and let God know guixey you to the right man/woman and separate you from the wrong man/woman. Also read godly books on marriage and attend marriage seminars and seek spiritual counsel before you jump into marriage. 20 Reasons Why Prayers Are Not Answered

Matthew 21:22:
And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Prayer can be defined as making your request known to God and believing that He will hear you and grant you your request. Prayer can also be defined as communication to God about the issues of your life. As a believer, the place of prayer can never be overemphasized. Jesus speaking in Luke 18:1 , encouraged us to pray always and not faint. However, prayers can be very frustrating when we don’t receive answers to our prayers. Nobody wants to pray to a God that will not answer his/her prayers. Today we shall be looking at 20 reasons why prayers are not answered. This will help us understand not only how to pray, but how to receive answers to our prayers. Prayer becomes a fools labor, when we don’t know how to receive answers. Ecclessiastes 10:15.

The challenge with a lot of Christians is not prayer, we pray a lot, but our primary challenge is how to receive answers to our prayers. Many times we feel discouraged and think ourselves as fools for praying because we don’t receive answers to our prayers. The truth is this, our God is a loving God, who will always listen to His children and grant them their heart desires. Our God is not a prayer storing God, He is a prayer answering God. All we need to do is to understand the art of prayer. It takes understanding to make one outstanding in life. When you lack understanding about prayer, you will keep praying like the pharisees in the bible who never get answers to their prayers. As we explore these 20 reasons why prayers are not answered, you shall begin to see the steps you need to take to see your prayers answered. My prayer for you today is this, as you study this article today, your prayers shall begin to receive speedy answers in Jesus name. For more information on How To Pray, Click Here. Now let’s go into the business of today.

Reason 1: SIN:

Psalm 66:18: If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me

Sin is a primary reason why prayers are not answered. Now I want us to understand this concept. The bible said if i regard iniquity in my heart, not in my life. What does this mean? The bible made it clear that all have sinned and have fallen short of Gods glory, Romans 3:23. As far as sin is concerned,we are all guilty, but thank God for the perfect sacrifice of Christ that has saved us all unconditionally from sin and that has made us righteous before God. Through Christ, we are saved from sin and we are acceptable to God through his blood. Therefore man no longer has a sin problem. But this can only work for those who believe in the perfect sacrifice of Jesus. If you don’t accept jesus as your Lord and saviour, you are still in your sins, and iniquity still abides in your heart. When you pray, you cannot receive answers to your prayers. No sinner can get to God successfully in prayers, and a sinner is someone who rejects Christ as His Lord and saviour. The solution to these reason, is Salvation.

Reason 2: LACK OF FAITH:

Mark 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Faith is absolute dependency on God. Without faith, its impossible for God to answer your prayers, Hebrews 11:6. God is not a magician, He is a God of faith, He operates in the realms of faith, for God to show up in your life, you must believe in Him. Many Christians pray to God without faith, they just pray and they walk away forgetting even what they prayed about. Faith is the key to answered prayers. You must believe that you are praying to a living God and you must expect answers from Him. Expectation is a evidence of faith. When you pray in faith, you will always have expectation that your prayers will be answered.

Reason 3: PRAYING AMISS:

James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

Praying amiss is praying outside the will of God for your life. It is not everything that you want, is good for you. When we pray outside the plan of God for our lives, we will often hit the rocks. For instance, that your friend is studying to be a medical doctor does not mean that you too will jump into the study of medicine. When we discover Gods plan for our life, it helps us to channel our prayers accordingly. A lot of believers today pray about things just because they see others doing the same. Your friend just got married to a man from America, and you are now asking God in prayers to give you a Husband from America. Such prayers often goes unanswered, not because God is adamant, but because you are praying outside Gods plan??? for your life, you are praying amiss. Jesus Christ our Lord also prayed outside Gods plan for His life, when he asked God to take this cup from Him, but immediately He said again,” not my will but thy will be done” Matthew 26:39. The solution to this reason is to search the scriptures and discover Gods plan and purpose for your life and pray in line with that. Ask God to fulfill his plans and purpose for your life and you shall see speedy answers to your prayer.

REASON 4: FEAR

2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Fear is the reverse of faith, while faith is believing in God, fear is believing in the devil or your circumstances. Fear is also faith, but faith in the wrong direction. What you fear, you believe in. When you pray with fear in your heart,God cannot answer you, because God only manifests himself in a faith filled environment. Child of God, do not let fear cripple the faith of God on your inside. No matter how tough your situation might be, you can overcome it by faith. Mark 9:23 tells us that ” If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him/her that believeth” . praying without faith is praying with fear and they only way to overcome fear is to believe the word of God more. You must learn to trust God more in prayers and you shall overcome.

REASON 5: WORDLESS

Isaiah 43:26 Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.

The word of God is the only thing that abides forever,Matthew 24:35. Praying without the word of God backing your prayers, is protesting without knowing. It is the word of God that gives potency to your prayers. Just like in the court of law, you cannot plead your case without quoting relevant sections in the law book, the same way, you cannot see breakthrough in your prayer without quoting relevant scriptures from the bible. For instance, if you are believing God for the fruit of the womb , while you are praying, you remind God of His word in Genesis 21:1, Exodus 23:25-26. You challenge Him with His word and you will see The God of answered prayers in action. This is why prayer is not effective without adequate knowledge of the word of God. To be effective in prayers, you must spend time with the word so that you can discover strong reasons why your prayers must be answered.

REASON 6: PRIDE

Psalms 138:6 Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.

Pride is a very dangerous thing. Pride simply means overestimation of self. This is the reason why the devil is the devil today. The spirit of pride is an anti Christ spirit. No proud man can receive answers to His prayers. This is because, God is the one that resists the proud, 1 Peter 5:5-6. A good example is that of the pharisee and the publican or tax collector, in Luke 18:9-14. We see that the prayers of the pharisee was not answered because he was full of pride, but God answered and saved the publican. You must reject pride in your life if you want God to answer your prayers. You must ask God to break you and teach you to be humble, so that your prayers will be answered.

REASON 7: IMPATIENCE

Hebrews 6:12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Patience is the fruit of the spirit, we need that virtue to see answers to our prayers. There is always a waiting period between when you pray and when you receive your answers. Just like every farmer must wait for harvest after sowing there seeds, you must also learn to wait for your prayer to be answered. Habakkuk 2:2-3, Tells us that Gods vision for us must come to pass, but we must wait for it. We must understand that God answers our prayers in processes,we must learn to walk through our own process. Some of the things you are praying for, God has already set the ball rolling for your answers, the process has started, but the reason why we don’t see answers is because we often give up before the end of our process. Prayers is like placing an order in an ecommerce store like Amazon, your order must be processed and shipped to your location, and these process can take some where between 24 hours to 3 months. That is the same with prayers,we must learn to wait for our answers. How do you wait? We wait in faith and great expectations.

REASON 8: RELIGION

Matthew 6:5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Religious prayers are prayers that are prayed just for a show. In the days of Jesus, the Pharisees where very religious people, they thought they were close to God,but never knew the were very far from God. The love to pray in street corners and standing in the synagogues. They love it when people see them and applauds them. But that is all the get from God, the applauds of men. Prayer is not a religious exercise, it is the raw communication with God by faith and expecting instant answers. Religious prayers cannot be mixed with faith because of its canal and fleshly motives. The solution to this is be in the spirit always and seek God in spirit and in truth.

REASON 9: FAMILIARITY

2 Corinthians 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

Familiarity brings contempt. To be familiar with prayer means to see prayer as a routine engagement. For instance many believers do family devotions every morning, during the devotions, most of the prayers prayed are prayed with the mentality of familiarity. It doesn’t come from our hearts, we are only praying because we are Christians, not because we are spiritually hungry for a revival. You must not take any opportunity to pray lightly, because every opportunity to pray is an opportunity to create a change in your world. Don’t be familiar with prayers.

REASON 10: VAIN REPETITION

Matthew 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Vain repetition is going round circles in prayer. It means not being specific or going straight top the point. Vain repetition means saying a lot of things and yet meaning nothing in your prayers. They pharisees in those days because they wanted the people to see them as spiritual, they prayed for long hours just talking out of point. We must learn to be specific in our prayers. After giving God thanks, we must learn to go straight to the point and tell God what we need.

REASON 11: NEGATIVE CONFESSION

Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

In this kingdom, you shall only have what you say, Mark 11:23. Many times when we pray,we ruin our prayers with negative confessions. What you say is what you will see. You cannot expect God to answer your breakthrough prayers when you always talk defeat. You cannot talk failure all the time and expect God to answer your prayers of success. Negative confession are poisonous to your prayers. Your confession must align with your prayers for God to answer you. Its important for you to know that, your life will always move in the direction of your mouth. If you talk failure you see failure, if you talk success, you see success. This is because life and death are in the power of the tongue Proverbs 18:21.

REASON 12: IRRESPONSIBILITY:

James 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

Irresponsibility in prayers is leaving everything about your life to God alone. Any faith that makes God absolutely responsible for everything in your life is an irresponsible faith. For your prayers to be answered, you must take actions of faith, Jesus always told the people He ministered to, “Your faith has made you whole” why is that? Because we have a role to play in our prayers. For instance if you are believing God for a miracle Job and you have prayed about it, you must go out to the streets and submit your job applications. You will never get a job by sitting down in the house all day watching movies. If you are praying for academics success, you must engage yourself also in effective study of your books ,because the Holy spirit will only remember you of what you have read about. That is responsibility, but when you pray and goto to sleep, your frustrations is bound to increase. Therefore, pray and take steps.

REASON 13: LAZINESS

2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

There is no future for a lazy person in the kingdom, no matter how prayerful you are. A lot of lazy Christians everywhere thinking that prayers will help them. You see some believers spending all there weeks in church praying, instead of going out to look for work opportunities. The truth is this, prayer is not a substitute for work. Prayer can enhance your effectiveness, prayer can give you access to the top,but hard work and commitment will keep you there. A lot of Christians pray to get admission to the University and when they finally get there, the become too lazy to study. Laziness is a spiritual cancer and you must resist it in your life today.

REASON 14: STRIFE

Ephesians 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Anger, bitterness, malice, in forgiveness are all products of strife and all these are spiritual poisons to your prayers life. When your heart is bitter towards someone, when your heart is full of hatred and unforgiveness, you cannot flow on the altar of prayer. I understand that some people have offended you, some have even betrayed you but think about how we offend God daily as Christians, yet for Christ sake He forgives us. Ask the Lord to heal your heart and wash away the pain so that you can move on with your life. When your heart is free of Strife, your prayers shall be answered.

REASON 15: HINDERING SPIRITS

Daniel 10:12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. 10:13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.

Hindering spirits are territorial spirits that controls a given territory. This spirits can attempt to resist our prayers, that is why we must be persistent in prayers. As long as we don’t give up on our prayer altar, we will surely overcome these forces. Daniel was praying for his nation and the demon of Persia opposed his prayers for 21 days, but daniel never gave up, he continued to pray untill God sent an arch angel Michael to subdue the enemy. Persistence in prayers will always lead to answers to prayers.

REASON 16: FOUNDATIONAL PROBLEMS

Psalms 11:3 If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?

Foundational problems are very serious problems. Your foundation is your roots, and until you deal with it, you may continue to struggle in life. Many believers where born into families that are under strange demonic oppression. Even after they are born again, though there spirit is saved but through the flesh they are still trapped in this demonic cage. Take for instance there are some families that suffer from late marriage, it runs in the family, its an evil pattern, even after you are born again, you have to violently separate yourself by force in order to enjoy victory in life. Dealing with foundational problems is attacking your problems from the source. Jabez knew that his problems started with his birth name, the same with Jacob. No matter what you pray for, until you deal with your foundation, you may keep struggling.
How do you deal with your foundation, simple, through prayer and fasting. For more on that please read this article on dealing with evil foundation.

REASON 17: SELFISHNESS

Matthew 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

Selfishness is praying with the wrong motive. God searches the heart of man and He knows why we do what we do. When you pray with the wrong motive, you don’t receive answers to your prayers. For instance praying against someone just because they don’t agree with you is a wrong prayer, which will not be answered. We must pray for the right reasons in order to get answers.

REASON 18: CARES OF LIFE

Matthew 13:22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

When you allow the cares of these world weigh you down, you cannot receive answers to your prayers. Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:33 that we should seek just His kingdom and His righteousness and all other things will be added to us. Worry can never solve your problems, but prayers can. We must learn to cast all our burdens to the Lord and he shall care for us. As long as we hold our peace, God will continue to fight for us. Ask God for the grace to put your trust in Him and Him alone.

REASON 19: INGRATITUDE

Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Gratitude is a catalyst for answered prayers, when we thank Him for what He has done, we see more of His goodness in our lives. As a matter of fact, every prayers starts and ends with thanksgiving. Whatever you are not grateful for you will most likely lose. Ingratitude will always lead to unanswered prayers. Thanksgiving is the only solution ingratitude.

REASON 20: SELFPITY.

Deuteronomy 28:13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:

God has ordained every believer to be the head only and not the tail. We are ordained to be envied and not to be pitied. A self pity mentality cannot lead to answered prayers. God cannot be moved by your tears, He is only moved by your faith. As long as you see yourself as a person to be pitied, you cannot have enough faith to receive answers to your prayers. But you must rise up from the dust and tell the devil enough is enough. You must confront your circumstances in prayers and see the Lord answer you speedily in Jesus name.

Conclusion.

I believe you are blessed by this article, these are some of the common reasons why many of our prayers are not answered. But when we begin to understand how to overcome all these reasons, we see our prayer life improve form glory to glory. I can tell you with authority that when I pray, God hears and He answers me. I have prayed my way out of countless situations in life. You too can have the same testimony. I pray that these 20 reasons why prayers are not answered will end your failures in prayers in Jesus name. Be blessed.
