Effective prayer is one that gets a prompt response from God. Many times most Christians get frustrated in place of asking God for something. Many would begin to lose faith in God because a response is delayed, unknown that they might have been acting out of principle. God promised us that whatever we ask Him through Christ Jesus that He will release unto us.
Aside from some notable hindrances that can become an obstacle to answer there are also tendencies that we might not be doing things right. It is important that we get connected with God in the place of prayer, we let our body, spirit, and soul be alignment to the heavenly for our prayers to be effective.

We have been made to understand that prayer is a means of communication between man and God, hence, the effectiveness of our prayer will be the manifestation of things we asked from God.
STEPS TO TAKE FOR EFFECTIVE PRAYER
Effective prayer is one that answers follow almost immediately. Prophet Elijah said this type of prayer to God when he asked that fire come down from heaven and destroy the prophet of Baal, 1kings 18 vs 36-38. This type of prayer is answered almost immediately.
The plan of God to all believers is to able to ask Him for something and He will do it immediately. Effective prayer will leave God with no choice than to grant answers. Here are some steps to take in praying effectively
1. Get Connected with Heaven
How do Christian get connected to heaven in place of prayer? It comes with undiluted worship to God. Many times, we wait until we hear a song that appeals to our spirit before we worship God, however, God must be worshiped in spite of or despite. When we worship God, it opens a spiritual portal that grants us access to the holiest chamber where the holy one of Israel dwells. Romans 8:16
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God. That is the spirit of God in man it bears witness with our own spirit when we worship God, we feel the undisturbed ambiance of the Holy Ghost.
2. Take Possession of your surroundings before asking:
The devil is a clever bastard, it lurks around whenever we gather to pray. That is why it is important to pray in the Holy Ghost. When we change our language of prayer, the devil gets confused because only God can understand what we say. There is a need to always take possession of our environment when we pray.
The devil would do everything to drive us away from the place of prayer and he will do everything to make sure that our prayers are not answered.
We must not make a mistake that the devil will take to his heels the moment we bow to pray. He doesn’t flee immediately like that, and that is why we begin to ruminate on some of the things that we ask God even while we are still praying and doubt begins to come to our heart. Mathew 26:39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” That was Christ praying when his time to die came closer. He was tempted by the devil to make an attempt to stop His own death, but he was swift to call himself back to track by saying no the will of him but the will of God. So, it is important that we decree that every unseen power roaming about to eat up our prayer to be destroyed.
3. Ask With A Vow
This one effective way of praying that most people wouldn’t want to hear. Available records from the scripture have made us understand that God places a high value on the vow of a man. This is the place of sacrifice. Many times we ask and ask but we don’t get a return from any of it. We sweat in the place of prayer, many times we are the first to get to a prayer meeting and the last to leave the prayer ground, yet nothing is changing.
How about you devise a new method of praying, make a sincere pledge unto to God. Hannah was a practical example, while she was praying to God for a child, her heart was deeply troubled. She could not even utter speech from her mouth anymore. But she prayed silently to God through her heart that God if you will open my womb and give me a child, I will in return dedicate the child unto you, I will make him serve you all the days of his life.
Most Christians are just selfish, they want to acquire all without sacrificing any, it doesn’t work that way. Even God had to let Christ died because he wanted to save the world. There are times that all we need to do is a vow unto God, that if you will do this thing for me, I will in return do this for you too.
It is, however, worthy of note that our vows in place of prayer do not necessarily mean material wealth. Because people thing vows should always be about giving money to churches or the needy. At times it could be a heart of thanksgivings, like King David. Little wonder the Bible recorded as a man after God’s heart.
Meanwhile, it is important to know that frustration in place of prayer must not lead us to make a pledge or vow that we cannot redeem. In fact, it is better not to make vows than to say it without redeeming it. The book of Mathew 5:33
“Again, you have heard that the ancients were told, ‘YOU SHALL NOT MAKE FALSE VOWS BUT SHALL FULFILL YOUR VOWS TO THE LORD.’ It is important that we redeem every vow that we make to God avoid hindrance to subsequent prayers.
