Prayer Points of Jabez

Today we will be dealing with prayer points of Jabez. We all know that Jabez is one of the most prominent names in the Bible. Sad to note, he gained prominence for a wrong reason. Jabez was named by his mother because she bore him in pain as explained in the book of 1 chronicle. The unpleasant name that Jabez earned caused his life a major problem.

This prayer article is peculiar to us because most of us live by the unpleasant names that people call us. Some people names is one of the major cause of their problem. One thing we have come to understand from the scripture is that God sometimes change the name of a man to establish His covenant with that man. While Jabez was solely blessed without a name change, Abraham, Paul, Jacob and many others had their names changed when the moment of their transformation started.

Jabez prayer is such that recognises God as the omnipotent, the one who is able to do all things. When we continuously rely on our mortal strength, this may deny us from benefiting from some promises of God. Little wonder the scripture says in the book of Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Before we delve into the prayer article, let’s analyse some Jabez prayer and why God swiftly answered it.

Why God Answered Jabez Prayer

1 Chronicle 4:10 “Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh that You would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.” This portion of the scripture explains what Jabez did.

Jabez Cried Unto God

There is something about crying to God. It means all hope is gone and one recognises that it is only God that can help at that time. God is not blind of some of the challenges that we experience, however, not until we cry to Him for help, He will continue to be silent.

The book of Exodus 2:24 So God heard their groaning, and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. For years the children of Isreal were wallowing pain of slavery and God just kept mute. But the moment they cried to God for help, things took a new turn. There is no one that has ever cried to God for help that God has ever denied one.

Jabez Recognises That Blessing Come From God
Jabez didn’t only recongnise that help only come from God, he also accept that blessing comes from God. When we allow men take the place of God in our life, God will only step aside to allow us experience that rejection and dissappointment.

He Surrender His Life To God’s Control

He asked that God’s hand should be upon him. This means he surrendered everything to the hands of God Almighty. He wants God to direct him, guide him and keep him away from all evil.

This means, God will become the controller of his life. He will go where God wants him to go and he wouldn’t go to the place God doesn’t want him to go.

Prayer Points:

• Lord God, I thank you for your grace over my life, I thank you for your blessing and protection over me, Lord let your name be exalted in the name of Jesus.
• Lord Jesus, I ask that by your mercy you will change every negative things that is affecting my life from progressing in the name of Jesus.
• Father Lord, I come against every evil utterances that has been pronounced into my life causing negativity in my life. I pray that by your mercy you will cancel every negative utterance over my life in the name of Jesus.
• Lord God, I pray that you will change every demonic covenant working against my growth and development in life. I pray that by the reason of the blood that was shed on the cross of calvary, I pray that you cancel every evil covenant in the name of Jesus.
• Lord God, you are the Almighty God. I pray that you will change every evil name that people call me that is slowing my pace and growth in life in the name of Jesus.
• Lord Jesus, I recognise the fact that blessing comes from you Lord. I pray you will bless me beyond measures in the name of Jesus. I pray that by your mercy, you will enlarge my coast in the name of Jesus.
• Lord Jesus, I pray that you will keep me away from all evil. I ask that by your mercy you will take pain and reproach far away from me and you will not let any evil come near my dwelling place in the name of Jesus.
• Lord Jesus, you are the God of restoration, I pray you will restore every good things that I have lost in the name of Jesus. Lord, in every way that I have missed some blessing, I pray that you will restore them to me in the name of Jesus.
• The scripture says when God restored the captivity of Zion we were like those who dream. Lord Jesus, I pray that in seven fold you will restore every good thing that I have lost in the name of Jesus. The years that cankerworm has ruined is restored in the name of Jesus.
• Lord, I come against every evil tongue speaking evil over my life. I pray that the fire of the holy Ghost in the name of Jesus.
• Lord Jesus, I pray that you will increase me on all sides. Above all my contemporaries, I pray that you will make me great. Regardless of my background, I pray that your promises for my life shall be fulfilled in the name of Jesus.
• I decree by the mercy of the Lord that my purpose of existence shall be fulfilled in the name of Jesus.
