5 Ways To Shun Fornication as Singles

Today we will be teaching on 5 ways to shun fornication as singles. Fornication is the sexual intercourse between people who are not legally married to one another. When a man who is single and a lady who is also single come together to have sex, that is fornication. Marriage is something that should be honoured and everything that should happen within the confines of marriage should be honourable. The book of Hebrews 13:4 further explain this Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

God detest fornication, little He warned us against the act of fornication in the scripture when He gave the 10 commandments to Prophet Moses. Remember the scripture says our body is the temple of the Lord so we must endeavor to keep it holy. The scripture further explains the nitty gritty of fornication. In the book of 1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. When we indulge in the act of fornication, we do not only sin against God, we defy the bed and sin against our body. One of the negative effect of this is that it subdues the spirit of God in the life of a man.

Negative Effects of Fornication

There are numerous negative effects of fornication. Some of the most common ones are:

It Subdues The Spirit Of God in Man
The spirit of God is the grace of God to every man. And remember the scripture says shall we continue to live in sin and ask that grace abounds? The body of a man houses the spirit of God. When fornication becomes the order of the day, the spirit of God start leaving gradually and a time is coming when such individual will have no iota of the spirit anymore.

It Takes The Presence of God Far
When a man indulge in sexual sin, the spirit of presence of God goes away from such a man. Meanwhile, our whole existence as human is to have a koinonia with God. One of the things that can destroy that relationship is sin. The more a man sin, the farther the spirit of God goes from him.

It Hinders The Fulfilment of Destiny
There is a purpose for the existence of every man on earth. Many destines has been destroyed on the altar of sexual sin. Reuben lost his position as the first child because he indulged in sexual sin with his father’s wife. Joseph would not have amounted to something great in life if he had indulged with master’s wife. Genesis 39:12 that she caught him by his garment, saying, “Lie with me.” But he left his garment in her hand, and fled and ran outside. The scripture recorded that Joseph fled from the scene.

How To Shun Fornication

Ask God For Help
One of the best ways to overcome the spirit of fornication is through the help of God. The grace to overcome that feeling or temptation to fornicate will be released and the only place a man can earn that grace through the help of God.

Ask God for help, tell the Holy spirit of God to help you overcome the temptation of fornication. There is always a tussle between the flesh and the spirit. The spirit is always willing but the flesh is weak. This explains why man must always seek for the help of God.

How that Apostle Paul cried out to God for help. Romans 7:15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. Cry out to God and He will help you.

Be Discipline

Most of the pit of sin we fall into is as result of self discipline. A man that doesn’t know what he stands for will fall for almost anything. Joseph knew who he was that was why he could not afford to fail purpose on the altar of sexual sin. He was highly disciplined and self determined never to indulge in any form of sexual sin.
Until a man is intentionally discipline about some certain things, he would always fall victim at any given chance.

Sec unite two peoole. That’s why the Bible says 1 Corinthians 6:16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” be discipline so you won’t be unite with an harlot.

Get Married

Marriage is honourable. The bed should be contaminated. Let him or her that is of marriageable age get married instead of indulging in sexual sin. Once you have attained a marriageable age, do not let the temptation of fornication force you into sin. Instead of indulging in sexual sin, it is better you settle down in marriage.

Marriage is the coming together of a man and woman to become husband and wife. Mathew 19:5 and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?


The Fear of God
The scripture says the fear of the beginning of wisdom. To shun fornication is not by strength. One needs the wisdom of the father to be able to identify the temptation and flee from it. And the wisdom of the Lord is imbedded in the fear for Him. When we fear the Lord, we would obey all of his commandments whether or not it is convenient for us to do so. The scripture made us understand that one of the commandments God gave to us is abstain from fornication. This is because God wants to build a nation of holy people.

However, when the fear of the Lord is absent, it becomes very difficult not to fornicate. We must fear the Lord like we can see, we must fear him like He is right behind us. The book of Psalm 119:11 says Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. Keep the word of the Lord in your heart that you may not sin against him.
