5 Reasons You Must Strive To Know God Better

Today we will be dealing with 5 reasons you must strive to know God better. A standard relationship with God is the best thing that can ever happen to a believer. The essence of our creation is to have koinonia with God. The maker of heaven and earth wants an unhindered form of relationship with His people. Little wonder God will descend into the garden of Eden in the cool of the evening to have a chat with Adam. The type of relationship between God and Adam was devoid of an intermediary. God Himself will descend and talk to Adam. That’s the type of relationship God wants to have with every believer.

However, when sin happen, this relationship was abated and God through his love and mercy had to find a better way of relating with man. Which led to the coming of the holy spirit. The apostles that worked with Christ had an undeniable access to Christ, to some extent they knew God better than anyone else. Apostle Paul during his time, although he didn’t meet Christ, however, he had an encounter with christ and he has heard so much about Christ. Apostle Paul said in the book of  Philippians 3:10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death. The knowledge of God is infinite, He reveals Himself to man according to the level of thirst and hunger in the heart of man.

When we strive to know God better, He becomes more visible to us and we get to know him better. Knowing God better means you will never be alone in moment of need or trouble. If this is not enough reason for you to strive to know God better, let’s highlight five other reasons:

For Koinonia

As stated earlier, the major reason you must strive to know God better is to build a sustainable relationship with Him. God speaks all the time, He wants to be listened to all the time. But when there is no constant relationship between man and God, it may seem God only speak once in a while.

The spirit of God speak all the time. He wants to talk to us all the time. Having a koinonia with God is like staying actively online all day. You know you will will never miss out from all the fun online. However, when you only have access to the internet once in a while, there are so many things that you won’t know. This is also how God works, when you have a good relationship with God, He speaks to you all the time.

We get quick response to prayer

Because He Is The Creator

Have you ever wondered where were the hosts of heaven when God left his palace on high to have a chat with Adam? Does it mean there was no one in heaven God could talk to that he decided to come down to the earth to meet Adam? The reason God created man is for him to have koinonia with man. Little wonder when man fail in the garden of Eden, God still didn’t stop at that. He sent his only begotten son to die on the cross just so salvation can be brought to mankind and people can be blessed with the gift of the holy spirit.

What God wants is a standard relationship with Him and that’s why we must strive to know Him better. When you are blessed with the gift of the holy spirit today, you start growing in it. Maybe God can be visiting you once in a month, however, God wants more than that. He wants you to step up to the point that He will have an undeniable access to you all the time. God is mindful of man, that’s why He build a kind of relationship with man that He doesn’t have with any other being created by Him.

It help us conquer sin

The better we know God, the stronger the spirit of God inside us. And the scripture says if the power of Him that raised Christ from the dead dwells in you, it will quicken your mortal body. Our mortal body needs to be quickened against sin and iniquity. The spirit of God helps us conquer sin.

There is always a tussle between the flesh and spirit. Little wonder apostle Paul cried aloud for help that he finds it difficult to do the things he wants to do, but conviniently do the things he doesn’t want to do. However, when the spirit of God is heightened in us, sin will be conquered because the spirit will give us strength to overcome the antics of the flesh. The scripture says for those that are led by the spirit of God are called the sons of God.

We get quick response to prayer

There is a great deal in striving to know God better. When we pray, we get quicker response to our prayer. We will become closer to God when we strive to know Him better. God reveals Himself in the same proportion as our thirst and hunger for Him. When we get closer to God, our voice is easily recognised in time of prayer and we get quicker response to our request.

We grow spiritually

We must strive to graduate from the class of a baby Christian. We making efforts to know God better put us in a more better position to grow spiritually. The power of darkness which is our adversary grow in leap and bounds everyday, we can’t afford to remain retard. When we strive to know God better, it helps us grow spiritually.

When we grow spiritually, we can trample upon darkness and its works. By so doing, we become a terror to the power of darkness anywhere we find ourselves. Every Christian must grow spiritually, else they will be trampled by the power of the enemy. The scripture says your adversary doesn’t rest, he goes about like a roaring lion looking for who to devour. We must not allow ourselves to be consumed by the enemy, we must grow and our efforts to know God better help us grow spiritually.
