Matthew 26:41:
41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Today we shall be engaging in prayer points against falling into temptation. Temptations are real, and only a Christian can be tempted. Temptation is simply being pressed to do what you don’t want to do and not being able to do what you want to do. Romans 7:14-25, paints a great picture of a believer struggling with temptations, it reads:

“14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. 16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. 17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. 19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. 20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. 22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. From the above scriptures, we see that there is a force of sin in the flesh of every human, always trying to pull us into the opposite direction. Every human inherited sin from the Adam, therefore sin is in us by default. The solution to sin is the saving grace of Jesus Christ. He is the only one who is without sin, therefore when we believe in Him, His righteousness becomes our righteousness, His holiness becomes our holiness. Our faith in Christ is what gives us right standing with God.
Having known this truth, one may ask, now that I am born again, how do I overcome temptations?

The answer is simple, through prayers. Prayers is a show of absolute dependence on the finished work of Jesus Christ. When we pray, the Ho!y spirit empowers us to say no to sin. No man can overcome sin in the flesh, that is why we must always pray to God for the grace to walk like Christ. Matthew 6:13, Jesus when teaching His disciples how to pray added that they should pray not to be lead into temptations, but rather to be delivered from all evils. Every healthy child is a growing child. One of the major characteristics of a living thing is growth. If you are not growing, it means you are dying. As a child of God, its not enough to be born again, we must desire to grow in our salvation. Today we shall be engaging in powerful prayer points for spiritual growth. Spiritual growth is defined as the spiritual energy we need for growth. Just like every new born baby needs to be properly fed for strength and growth, that is how every child of God also needs to be feed spiritually for spiritual strength and growth.

If you are not spiritually strong, you cannot last in the faith, you must learn to equip yourself spiritually in order to overcome the temptations of the devil. There are two ways to grow in strength as a child of God, they are: The Word, and Prayers. We are going to be examining these two ways shortly:

Today we are going to be dealing with idols from my father’s house. Idol worshipping is a common practice among men for many generations, our ancestors worshipped different graven images and called them different names, for instance, the god of thunder, the god of fruitfulness, the god of harvest etc. The truth is that these are not gods, they are demons that are worshipped by our ancestors. These demons were worshipped as gods by our ancestors and a lot of sacrifices were made to these gods including human sacrifices. For many years these demons were idolized and worshipped until the dawn of civilization.

In this modern times,many young people are unawares of the idols of there father’s house. They go about there daily business not knowing about the dangerous forces in their father’s house. These younger generation knows nothing about there ancestors gods and hence they don’t recognize those gods. As a result of these, the demons now begin to inflict strange order of calamities upon the younger generation. Calamities such as poverty, untimely death, failures and disappointment, barrenness, genetic and terminal illnesses, marital delays etc. Child of God, these are not just stories, there are evil forces fighting against every family, these forces came into each family through idol worship. Until you deal with the idols of your father’s house, you may never experience total deliverance in your life as a believer.

Every child of God is a new creation, and the devil knows that, and he will continue to attack your life until you rise up and separate yourself from the evil covenants of your fathers house. You must engage in intense warfare prayers to separate yourself from the sins of your fathers. Two Ways To Free Myself From The Idols Of My Father’s House.

There are only two ways you can be free from the idols of your father’s house, one is to be born again,the second is through deliverance prayers. Let’s look at each of them.

1). Salvation: 1 Corinthians 5:17, tells us that if you are in Christ old things are passed away, and all things are become new. This simply means that the day you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal saviour, You became a child of God, you were no longer connected to your father’s house anymore.
