Five Ways To Pray In Spiritual Warfare

Today we will be teaching the five ways to pray in spiritual warfare. Life is a warzone. We are warriors. We must not exhibit laxity. The scripture admonishes us in the book of Ephesians 6:11-12-13 Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil or we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

This portion of the scripture has explained our type of Warfare. Our battle is not physical because we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but rulers, principalities, and powers in high places. Judging by this type of fight, we must not show any form of weakness. We must be prepared all the time. Good to know, God has promised us victory over every power and darkness through the power in the name of Jesus. However, this doesn’t mean there is no fight. We must still engage in spiritual warfare.

Knowing how to pray in spiritual warfare goes a long way in ensuring that victory is ascertained. Spirit warfare is not like the regular prayer. These are prayers for freedom, for dominance, for restoration. They are not the type of prayer prayed solemnly. As these prayers are essential, not knowing the best ways to pray them makes them ineffective. When you pray, you must do it with understanding with consciousness.

Five Ways To Pray In Spiritual Warfare

1. Pray In The Spirit

Praying in the spirit is not just about speaking in tongues during prayer. Although speaking in the holy ghost is one common way of praying in the spirit, however, there is more to it. Praying in the spirit comes with knowing and understanding the word.

When you study the word, there is an interpretation through the power of the holy spirit. When the interpretation comes, you are ignited in your spirit to pray using the word. The word of God is a sword. The book of Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Praying in spiritual warfare is never complete without praying in the spirit. Praying in the spirit is not effective until the word is sent forth. While praying in the spirit, it is also important to pray in the holy ghost. These are unknown tongues that are clear to God. When you speak in the holy ghost, you become a territorial commander in the realm of the spirit. You make utterances with words that are beyond the understanding of man.

2. Pray Without Ceasing

You should not launch into prayer only when you are in trouble. Learn to pray even when things seem normal. In the days of trouble, you don’t get enough strength to fight back. For instance, you don’t have all the strength to pray fervently when a terrible illness strikes you down. So also will you lose every hold of strength to pray when you are troubled. Your saving grace during this time will be years of fruitful praying time you have labored.

You must know that a fighter is not a champion by virtue of what happened in the fighting ring. He is a champion through the hours of preparation. He will only enter the ring to display all that has been practiced. So also is spiritual warfare. You don’t become a victor when trouble comes; you become a victor through the years or days of preparations you have made. That is what will keep you going in moments of trouble.

3. Fast and Pray

Mathew 17:21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

Nothing moves by itself unless there is an external force. You must not negate the place of sacrifice when fighting spiritual warfare. The adversary doesn’t rest day and night; why should you linger as a believer? You should intensify your prayer life with fasting.

This was the response of Christ when the apostles asked why they could not perform certain miracles like Jesus. Miracle will not happen unless there is fasting and prayer. Even Christ the supreme being fasted for forty days and nights before he commenced his work here on it. You must learn how to fast as a Christian. Some victories will not come unless you have fasted.

While prayer is a force that drives answers, fasting is the energy that makes the force compelling.

4. Pray With Faith

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

You are praying to God, but you don’t have faith in Him. For you to receive from the Father, you must believe in the potency of His power. You must believe that exists, and He is powerful enough to turn that situation around.

Your faith must be strong; you must have a conviction in your heart that God can grant you victory. We are men of incredible sight. Our sight is in our faith that our heavenly father is powerful and He has conquered the world. You must first key into this faith, and then victory will come.

5. Pray With The Blood of Christ

Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

The blood of Christ is leverage for us believers. For redemption to come, there must be a shedding of the blood. For victory over sin, Christ had to shed his blood. Similarly, for spiritual warfare, the blood is still adequate to ascertain victory.

The scripture says, and they overcame him by the blood of the lamb. When you pray spiritual warfare, always emphasize the blood. The blood of Christ has been shed, and it continues to flow in Calvary. This tells us that the potency of the blood is everlasting.
