Today we will be exploring Psalm 24 meaning verse by verse. One of the most amazing things about the earth is the glory of God upon it. Also, one of the most amazing verses in the Bible is Psalms. Many of these Psalms are written from the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, some of the mysteries revealed through Psalms cannot be gotten by the flesh or through the mortal knowledge of a man. They can only be gotten through the touch of the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit comes, the portal of revelation is opened, and people will begin to see things that are divine.

Like many other Psalms, Psalm 24 talks about the Glory of God and His Kingdom here on earth and in heaven.  More so, this Psalm is a recitation for inviting the Holy Spirit into a gathering. However, it teaches that only people with clean hands and a pure heart. This explains that God doesn’t dwell in a place that is filled with iniquity.

Meaning of Psalm 24 verse by verse

Verse 1 The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein.

This first verse talks about the ownership of the earth. It reveals that the earth and everything that inhabits it belongs to God. Man plants and animals all belong to God because He created them all

Verse 2 For He has founded it upon the seas, And established it upon the waters.

The second verse of Psalm 24 explained how God created the Universe. Recall that in the book of Genesis chapter 1, the scripture said the world was without form and the spirit of the Lord moved upon the surface of the waters. God created the earth on waters, this is what the second verse of the Psalm is trying to say.

Verse 3 Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place?

The third verse of Psalm 24 is asking questions on who can stand in the holy place of God or who can ascend into the hills of Jehovah. This makes us understand that not everyone is worthy to stand in the presence of God and that is why this question is asked that who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? This is a question of eligibility.

Verse 4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully.

Verse 4 gave an answer to the question that was asked in the previous verse. Now, only those that have clean hands and a pure heart can ascend into the hill of the Lord. This is people who have not lifted up their souls unto vanity or sworn deceitfully. This confirms the word of the Lord that says the eyes of God are too righteous to behold sin. Those who have clean hands which means righteousness can stand in the holy place of God.

Verse 5 He shall receive blessing from the Lord, And righteousness from the God of his salvation.

Anyone that is worthy to ascend into the hill of the Lord or stand in his Holy place will attain blessings from God. A perpetual example was Abraham, how he built a sustainable relationship with God that God had to tell Abraham everything he wants to do. The scripture says I will not do anything without telling my friend Abraham. And surely, Abraham received a blessing from God, one of the blessings is to be named the father of many nations.

Verse 6 This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face.

The scripture called the generation of those that seek God the generation of Jacob. Recall how Jacob sought God when he had an encounter that changed his life for good.

Verse 7 Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in.

This verse is giving an invite to the king of Glory to come in and dwell in your life and home. The gates are the hindrances or obstacles in our life or home that may want to stop the spirit of God from dwelling in our life or home. These hindrances could be sin or any other shortcomings.

Verse 8 Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle.

This is a question of certainty asked to know who exactly the king of glory is. This is similar to the question that demons asked the sons of Shiva, that Jesus we know, Apostle Paul we know, but who are you? This is the same question that the demons and guardian of the gate are asking the announcer. And there was an answer immediately stating that the Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle is the king of Glory. The Lord strong and mighty is Jesus Christ.

Verse 9 Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in.

Verse 9 of the Psalm is reiterating the previous statement for emphasis purposes. Telling the guardians of the gate to lift up their heads that the king of glory may come in and dwell in the place.
