Today we will be teaching the five reasons why believers live in fear. As a Christian, it is expected that you are courageous. The scripture says in the book of Daniel 11:32 Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery, but the people who know their God shall be strong and carry out great exploits. The bible says those who know their God shall be strong, and they shall do great exploit.
Furthermore, the Bible expressed that we have been bought with a price. The precious blood of Christ has made us sons and daughters of God. This means we do not need to live our lives in fear of what the enemy may do to us. It is because the life we live is no longer ours but of God. Also, the scripture says For we have not been given the spirit of fear but of sonship to cry Abba Father. We are sons of salvation. Our Father is the mighty one in battle. The God who has the Supreme power in the world is our father. Hence, we are supposed to live like princes and princesses.

However, many believers still live their lives in fear. They live in terror of what the devil might do to them. When we accept Christ as our personal Lord and savior, strength and courage are released to us. We get the strength and power to do great things. And we begin to exhibit the fruits of the spirit. Good to know, fear is not one of the fruits of the spirit. If fear is not a characteristic of God, then why do some believers still live in fear? We aim to explain why in this blog. We sincerely hope that by the time you finish reading this blog, you will know why you are still live in fear. This will help you remove fear from your heart altogether.
Five Reasons You May Continue To Live In Fear
Lack Of Faith
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
You may be Christian, and your faith is not strong enough. That’s why you keep doubting the power of God, especially in your time of trouble. Having faith in God goes beyond believing He can do few things. Still believing God is powerful to solve a complex situation when it doesn’t feel or look like it is a great deal.
When your faith is small or not good enough, your fear will increase. If God has promised to do something, He will do it. However, you still need to exercise your faith in certain areas. The devil will utilize your lack of faith to torment you with terror. But when your faith in God is strong enough, you don’t fear what the enemy would do. David is a perfect example. David’s faith in God gave him the confidence that Goliath will be defeated against all odds pointing at Goliath’s undeniable victory.
David was not intimidated by the sight and strength of Goliath. He relied strongly on God to defeat Goliath. Knowing God is not enough. Faith in God is a great deal for every believer to overcome fear.
Not Knowing God Enough
Daniel 11:32 Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.
A man would not have faith in the God that he doesn’t know. Abraham knew God and that intensified his faith in God. Job knew God that also increased his level of trust and faith in God. Even when the enemy badly tormented him, Job refused to deny God because he was sure God was powerful enough to heal him from his present predicament.
Not Trusting God Enough To Fix Your Problem
Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the heathen.
We often try to fix so many things by ourselves that we forget a man called God. There are problems that our mortal strength and knowledge can’t fix. It needs us to rely solely on God to fix them. But when we don’t trust God enough, we are bound to become scared of our problems becoming too much.
When Christ was in the boat with his disciples, he fell into a deep sleep, and heavy wind came down. The apostles tried as much as they could to salvage the situation themselves. They did all they could, but none of their efforts or idea was productive enough to stop the boat from capsizing until they cried out to Christ, who was deep asleep to help them.
Similarly, in our lives, some challenges are not ours to confront. Some problems are not ours to conquer. When we trust God enough, we leave everything to Him. We surrender the ship of our life to his captainship. Until then, will we have peace.
Not asking God For Help
Exodus 3:8 – 9 So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites. Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them.
For many years the children of Isreal were lost in a strange land. The Egyptians made them slaves. Until the day they cried to God for help. When you seek the help of God, the first thing that happens is that your fear is taken away because you feel saved and secured.
God sent a deliverer to rescue the children of Isreal from captivity. When we cry to God for help, we are delivered, and our fear is taken away. The scripture says for we have not been given the spirit of fear but of Sonship to cry Abba Father.
When You Don’t Have The Holy Spirit
Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
Fear is a demon that torments a person that doesn’t have the spirit of God. For many years that the Apostles worked with Jesus, they were devoid of the Holy Ghost. And the scripture says you shall receive power when the holy ghost has come upon you.
Apostle Peter almost drowned after he got scared when he was walking on water after Christ called him. It was the same Apostle Peter that denied Jesus thrice because he was scared of what would become of him if people should know he was with Jesus. However, when the spirit of God came, Apostle Peter did marvelous things. He stood in front of thousands and preached the gospel. He healed the sick at the beautiful gate.
Brethren, the power of the holy spirit can not be overemphasized. You need it, I need it, we all need it. We can’t get enough of it because it is endless.
