A quick recall from the scripture when Christ was tempted by the devil after he had fasted and prayed for forty days and night. Mathew 4:7 Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.’ ” Jesus quoted the scripture directly for the devil, just to free himself from the temptation of the devil.

The truth is we are soldiers of Christ. We must not fret when life challenges come raging at us. However, we can not find strength or confidence merely by praying. The word of God is an assurance and confidence for us when we pray.
There is this assurance that we have when we quote the exact portion of the scripture that goes in alignment with what we are praying about. For instance, if we are praying for healings, when we quote some scriptural text that talks about healing, there is a level of confidence that builds up inside of us knowing that God has promised to heal all our diseases.
It Makes Prayer An Interesting Activity
Prayer can get boring sometimes. We can spice up our prayer life by quoting the scripture. This require that we have an in-depth knowledge of the scripture. This helps us tarry in the place of prayer.
We spend more hours in the place of prayer when we pray with the scripture. There are numerous scriptural verses that can be used for specific situations. As stated earlier, when we have an in-depth knowledge of the word of God, it helps us stay longer in the place of prayer.
It Helps Us Build Intimacy With God
Our knowledge of the word of God help foster a quality relationship between us and God. We build an intimacy with God by speaking the word. The more we study the word, the better we understand the man called God. When we study the word and use it in place of prayer, we sustain a reputable relationship with God.
At this point, prayer becomes a two way thing. We speak to God and also hear from Him simply because the level of relationship between us and God has been built and sustained in the place of prayer.
It Helps Us Build Faith
The scripture says faith comes by hearing. Roman 10:17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. Faith comes by hearing the word of God. When we speak the word of God in prayers, it intensify our faith rapidly. We have an assurance that we are talking directly to God because we are speaking his words.
We build our faith in God that he can hear us when we speak and he can give answer to our prayers. The word of God helps build our faith.
We Confess Our Sin
The Bible says for all have sinned and come short of his glory. When we pray the word of God, we acknowledge the fact that we are sinners. We recognise the fact that our life is far from righteousness, he speak the word with attestation for the mercy of God to speak over our lives.
We beg for mercy when praying the word of God. We don’t argue that we are righteous, we submit and confess out sins before God when we pray with the scripture.
It Helps Us Overcome Temptation and Sin
The book of Psalm 119:105 says Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. When we study the word of God and speak it during prayer, we overcome the temptations not the devil.
Remember when Christ was tempted by the devil, Christ didn’t banter words with the devil, He simply quite the scripture and the devil went away. The book of Psalm 119:11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. When we study and use the word of God during prayers, we overcome the temptations of the enemy.
It Helps Us Stand Firm With God
The scripture says let he that thinks he stand take heed unless he falls. When we study and pray the word of God during prayer, it gives us the consciousness of standing firm in the calling of God. The Bible made us understand that it is for Freedom that Christ has set us free, let us therefore stand firm that we may not become slave to sin anymore.
Because Jesus is The Word
The book John 1:1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Jesus is the word, when we speak the word of God during prayers, we speak Jesus.
The Scripture Is The Will of God
The word of the Lord are His promises for our lives. Using the scripture during prayer means reminding God of His promises over our lives. For I know the thoughts that I have towards you, they are the thought of good and not of evil to give you an expected end.
When we pray with the scripture, we speak the Will of God for our lives into reality.
It Helps Us Stay Focus in Place of Prayer
There are diverse distractions that the enemy throws at us during prayer. However, when we pray with the scripture, it helps us to stay focus. The word of the Lord embedded in the scripture carries power that causes us to stay focused in the place of prayer.
